This is a once a year offer that you cannot afford to miss so clean out those cltsl TWO -Advocate, March 3, 1982 Some old songs messages recalled In respononse to over- whelming demand from my enthusiastic reader, I have compiled a second edition of good old songs that I recall from the fifties and sixties. The first edition appeared a few months ago and con- tained the type of songs that we don't hear as often these days. Here are some oldies but goodies - songs that really have something to say: For example, 'Da da dum; da da da da dum dum ; da da dum ; da da da da dum dual; I told every little brook, made my heart an open book. Why haven't I told you? Da da dum; da da dada dum dum. Why haven't I told you?" In those days, the "dada- dum" type intros and links deedo-dah; zip -a -dee -ah; my, my, my, what a beautiful day! Plenty of sunshine coming my way! Odds 'n ends By Elaine Townshend 44)o between verses were of the utmost importance and could indeed spell success or failure for a tune. Who can forget: "Zip-a- Zip-a-dee-do-dah; zip-adee- ah." Many important questions were asked musically back in the good old days. TRIPP - MERNER Mrs. Gleno Tripp and Mrs. Norman Tripp are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Leona to Alan Merner son of Mr. and Mrs: Clayton Merner. The marriage will take place March 29, 1982 at the Dashwood United Church with Rev. Barbara Laing of- ficiating. Open reception to follow. Photo by "Schwartzentruber For instance: "Does your chewing gum lose it's flavour on the bedpost overnight? When your mother says don't chew it, do yoy swallow it in spite? Do you catch It on your tonsils and heave it left and right? Does your chewing gum lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight?" Perplexing sltuations were discussed in song. A. chap from Australia sangabopthis problem: "My boomerang won't come back. My boomerang won't come back. I waved the thing all over the place; practiced til I was blue in the face. I'm a ring'ding .daddy, I'm a ricketq-rack. My boomerang won't come back." I'm not certain all. the words are correct, butI clearly remember the en- ding. From out of nowhere, a strong voice warbled: "If You want yottr boomerang to come back, well, first you've got to throw it." And the, first voice said, "Ooh, I never thought of that!" . Some groups practiced the theory that when they found a good line, or at least one they liked, it was worth repeating - and repeating - LIONESS CLUB DONATES - Lioness Lisa F,rayne of the Exeter Lioness Club presents a cheque to Jean Mair, Director of Finance for equipment for the Physiotherapy Department of South Huron Hospital.
