The meeting opened with the pledge. Roll call was to bring a sample of the bread baked the week before. Comments were made on the success and any problems that were en- countered. The girls are • planning a party; Italian style. Everyone will bring Italian food. Along with the home activity, appropriate games to play at the party are to be thought of. Meeting was adjourned by President Connie Kaak and everyone tasted the delicious English muffins prepared by Connie. Play euchre Tuesday the Crediton Womens Institute held their third euchre of the season with 12 tables in play. Winners were Ladies high - Lily Schwartz, men's high - Russell Brown, ladies low Florence Finkbeiner, men's low - Cliff Kenney, ladies lone hands - •Doris Pfaff, men's lone hands, - Russell King. The next euchre will be held Marbh 10 at 8p.m. in the Crediton hall. - Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smith had a surpirise visit Monday when their son, Randy, from Olds, Alberta popped in for supper and some of Mom's dutch apple pie. He, Judy, Roy, Joan and the families joined in on the celebration. Randy will spend some time here with his parents. Soul Survivors the U.C. Youth group enjoyed a toboggan party at Pinery Provincial Park Friday evening. They enjoyed hot chocolate and hot dogs cooked over an open fire and returned to the church for a worship service. T -A photo Exeter senior citizens learn of Homemakers The meeting of Exeter Senior Citizens attended by. about 50 members took place March 1. Ken Johns, president, conducted the business part of the meeting. Dates . to remember are March 10, program and dance ,at Vanastra, beginning at 2 p.m. Town and Country annual meeting and banquet April 7 at Pineridge Chalet. A lengthly letter con- cerning "Homemakers" was read. This is a service, through the county, for those who need care, in their homes. Costs are geared to the ability of a person to pay. Mrs. Love gave a report from the advisory com- mittee. Anyone wishing help to complete their income taxes may contact Mr. , Charles Smith. Miss Meagan Jongkind spent the past week at her home due to the yearly slack week at Western University. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sch- wartz and Miss Doris Sch- wartz of Crediton and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Insley of Exeter were Sunday supper guests with Mr.. and Mrs. Ted Insley. Mrs.Myrtle Hanna of Stratford spent the weekend aith Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gartenburg. Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thomson of Parkhill Our sympathy is extended to Mrs. William Rundle and family ;in the passing of the formers mother, Mrs. Albert Scott on Friday. Mrs. Ordell Webber was a guest on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Morley Eagleson of Greenway. Mrs. Pam Ditchfield of London spent the weekend Dough -nuts plan tour February 25, the Crediton Dough -nuts met at the home of Karen Haist for their se- cond meeting. They opened with the 4-H pledge and answered the roll call which was naming a place for let- ting the dough rise. The members made butter- milk bread and rolls and started Health Bread. Ideas were discussed for our title page and about touring the Arva flour mill. The next Meeting will be held at the Crediton Community Centre, March 4. The Colonel's taste is best. SUMMERS GRANTON At the United Church the Rev. Elwood Morden was was In charge of the worship and conducted the service for the youth groups of Granton and community on Sunday. Members of the Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, CGIT, Explorers and their leaders attended. Explorer leader Julie McRobert led in the responsive reading. Joanne Goos CGIT member read the first scripture lesson. Scout Scott Wissel the second. Larry .Ketelaars Scout Commissioner- brought greetings and told a story that explained that 'tone boy was strong enough to set a good example to - his com- panions, he will eventually win them over. to his side. The offering was taken up by four Cubs. Rev. Morden entitled' his message to the members of the Youth Groups "How it all began." This dealt with the history of the Scout and Guide movement, from the time it was founded by Lord Baden Powell seventy five years ago, up to the time of Lord Baden Powell's death in Kenya . Africa in 1961, giving highlights of the movement, up to the time of the World gathering at Canmore, Alberta in 1981. 1te minister concluded his message by reading the last letter the world leader of Scouts wrote to all scouts• of the world, it contained this message, Be prepared to live happy, and die happy, and keep the Scout promise. In the children's story the minister told them the meaning of trust. and ex- plained that it was a great honor to have people trust you. Greg Smith conducted the service of morning prayer for the first Sunday in Lent. The service began with the Litany of. Penitence. The first lesson was read by Kenny Beatson and the second by Steven. Granton Happy Gang meet The Happy Gang , met at the United Church on Wednesday afternoon.
