THAT WORKED — lossy Fulter and 43111 Mickle of Exeter town council come to lois Ottewell's class at Exeter Public School last Tuesday to present a copy of an informa- tion and promotion kit advertising Exeter's advantages to industry. Accepting the kit for the student body are Ken Talbot, student council secretary, Sarah Patterson, tredsurer, and Jamie Beuerman, vice-president. The town has already had two contacts as a result of a seminar at which the kit was presented by an industrial consultant. Keep reading, by for now, see you next week. - Barbara Gallant. Snow Day - Monday January 11 the students of Stephen Central were not at school because of the snow storm. The students will probably be hoping for another one this weekend so they .can miss more school. Here is'what some of the students and teachers did on the day of the storm. Bev. Dillon • went tobogganing, Jean Klemke shovelled snow and built a snow fort, Lisa Hewitt - baked muffins, Leslie MacDonald went back to the creek and made a snow fort. Mrs. Soldan did some baking and tidied up • her house. I guess the best thing to do was to stay in the house. - Lindy Dillon. In oom 4_pvgy week ,we have a ehi1d'of the week for Guidance. This week it was Rebecca Vandeworp. She '.lrought a book called Natural Wonders of the World and a picture of her and her brother. A poem when she won at Exeter fair and also some coins were also displayed. - Lori Hutchinson. •The Grade 8 room 1 students did a History Pro- ject. The projects were done very well and displayed in the hall. - Lori Hutchinson. The Olds . Poor Hockey team was chosen, Wednes- day. January 15. The follow- ing people were chosen Janice Schade, Karen Schade, Patti Love, Heather Love, Marsha Brand, Dianne Dearing, Susanne Smith, Lori .Lynn Schenk, Denise. Renning, Juanita Young, Julie Hendrick, Tracy Ratz, Tracey Davis, Tracey Remkes, Bonnie Dillon, Suzanne Finkbeiner and Carrie Tiedeman. The girls will travel to Exeter_ Public School on January 29. They - will play against five other schools. - Julie Hendrick. The students from grade 4 to 8 will be preparing to write a three to five minute speech in the next few weeks. The teachers of these grades will likely then have their speeches read to the class. From this reading three or four students will be chosen to participate in the gym in school competition in February. This competition will be judged for grammar, tone, good use of words and many others. The winner of that speak off will then either go to Grand Bend or Crediton. Hope everyone enjoys the speeches. HEBER DAVIS Mrs Joan Greenlee was hostess Thursday afternoon for the January meeting of St. Patrick's A.C.W. There were 10 members present. President Marguerite Greenlee opened the meeting with the members prayer in unison. Margaret Carroll read the Scripture from 2 Timothy 3-10 - 4-8. Hazel Davis read a prayer for Sunday Schools, Cheryl Carroll for missions, Viola Atkinson for absent members and Mary Davis for,the church and her work, Marguerite Greenlee read the meditation and closed with prayer. - Mary Jefferies read the minutes of the December meeting.. The roll call was answered with a New Years resolution. The roll call for the February meeting is to be a Valentine verse. The order of meetings was set for each month of the new year. Ways and means to raise money were 'discussed. Rev. Greg Smith spoke to the group on 'changes an- • ticipated for church service in the coming months. The hostess served refreshments and a social hour followed. George Miller, Clio, Michigan called on his cousins Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis recently. Mrs. Maurice MacDonald and Mrs. Earl Atkinson and Gote Wennerstrom, Lucan and Wesley Heywood, Crediton were recent guests with Mrs. Heber Davis. Mr. and. Mrs. Earl Greenlee were recent guests with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Simpson, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blair.
