Pfaff team victorious,
Pincombe scores five
Former Mohawk player
Bill Pincombe notched a
career high five goals to lead
Pfaff Electric as they
demolished Apex Leasing 15-3
in the consolation final of the
local rec league tournament,
Sunday.
Pfaff's opened up thetour-
nament Saturday morning by
dropping a hard fought game
7-5 to the Thedford Raiders.
Ken. Pinder opened the
scoring in the game on a pass
from Brian Hodgins. Thed-
ford tied the game at 1-1 and
Pfaff's regained the lead on a
goal by Brian Hodgins from
Jim Rolph and Randy
Gilfillan.
They increased their lead to
3-1 as Ken Pinder notched his
second goal from Fred Camp-
bell and Don "Meat"
Heywood. Thedford then
scored the next four goals to
take a 5-3 lead.
Ken Pinder scored to nar-
row the count on an
unassisted effort. Thedford
notched two more goals
before Pinder closed out the
scoring from Larry Taylor
and Don Heywood.
180 This put Pfaff's into the
108 consolation round against -
104 their arch rivals the
110 Dashwood Tigers. Pfaff Elec-
tric left no doubt who the bet-
ter team was on this occasion
as they crushed the Tigers 7-2.
Ken Pinder opened the
scoring for the local crew as
he scored from Fred Camp-
bell and Bill Pincombe. He
followed with another goal

again assisted by Fred Camp-
bell. Campbell came back to
score one of his own on passes
from Don Heywood and Steve
Pfaff.
Jim Rolph made it 4-0 as he
scored an unassisted goal.
Brian Campbell increased the
lead to 5-0 as he scored from
Scott Pincombe and Larry
Taylor.
Fred Campbell notched his
second from Ken.Pinder and
Don McKellar.
Dashwood finally hit the
board with the next two goals
but Fred Campbell got one
back from Don McKellar and
Brian Hodgins to close out the
scoring and put Pfaff's into
the final.
The well rested Pfaff team
had little trouble on Sunday as
they totally dominated the
tired Apex crew who had
played earlier in the da
They led 6-1 after two perio
and then scored nine goals in
the -final period.
The real highlight of the
weekend was the play of the
youthful 42 year old Bill Pin-
combe who notched five goals
and added the assist to lead
the onslaught.
Ken Pinder added two goals
and four assists, Fred Camp-
bell one goal and five assists,
Jim Rolph three goals and an
assist, Brian Hodgins one
goals and two assists, Larry
Taylor one goal and one
assist, Don McKellar one goal
and one assist. Brian Camp-
bell and Dennis Bierling two
assists, Don Heywood one
goal, Jim Pfaff and Scott Pin-
combe one assist each.

Tie with Marauders
Buckeyes defeat South
The South Huron In-
termediate Hockey League
champions, the Zurich
Buckeyes, defeated the
leagues all-star team 5-3 in
Zurich Friday.
Hensall's Brian Mahar
started the scoring for the All -
Stars late in the first period.
Jeff Fuller of the Mohawks
and Ken Varley also of Hen-
sall assisted.
The teams exchanged two
goals each in the second
period. Mahar again opening
, the scoring.
Exeter's Brad Daters and
Centralia College player
Mark Thompson assisted.
Mike Clarke started things
off for Zurich assisted by
Gerald Weido.
Exeter Mohawk Luc
Gagnon scored on a single
handed effort while Zurich's
Steve Bedour was serving two
minutes for roughing.
Wayne Thiel answered for
Zurich, assisted by Glen Zirk
and Randy McKinnon.
The Buckeyes dominated
the third period, overcoming
the All Star's 3-2 lead.
Mike Clarke scored twice
on single handed efforts, with
Pat Bedard adding a single.
Weido and Clarke assisted on
Bedard's single.
The referees handed out 21
minor penalties, with the
Buckeyes taking 11.
In another weekend game
the Buckeyes were held to a
6-6

Centralia took a two goal
lead in the first. Doug Todd
assisted by Rick Funston and
Blair Hearn, and Rich
Luther, assisted by Mark
Cronyn and Randy Somer-
ville scored.
Rob Greiner shot in
Zurich's first goal early in the
second period.
Todd, assisted by Funston,
replied for Centralia restoring
the Marauder's two goal lead.
Paul Haggit and Kevin
Geoffrey assisted Ron
Rader's goal for the
Buckeyes, but Centralia's
combination of Luther
Cronyn and Mike Mills scored
two quick goals.
Luther and Cronyn each
scored with the others
assisting.
Kris Bedard scored for
Zurich halfway through the
period assisted by Rader and
Jeff O'Brien.
Going into the third Cen-
tralia still held their two goal
margin.
The Buckeyes evened
things up in the third with
goals by Wayne Weido
assisted by Glen Zirk.
With just over five minutes
left to play a single handed ef-
fort by Mark Cronyn again
put the Marauders in the lead.
It looked like Centralia
would win with a 6-5 score
but Zurich's Kris Bedard tied
