Stephen teams win four
Stephen minor hockey
teams won four of seven
games played this week.
The Stephen atoms
dropped a 10-2 decision to
Zurich. Steven DuBarry
Scored both goals.

Stephen bantams blanked

Zurich 2-0. The marksmen
were Mike Moffatt and
Eugene Glanville with Steve
McIntyre getting two assists
and Dean Allen one.
Stephen defeated Zurich in
a return bantam game
Saturday by a score of 9-4.
Eugene Glanville was the
top point producer with two
goals and three assists.
Getting two goals each were
Bill Lessard and Dave
Smith.
Scoring in single fashion
were Paul Johnston, Steve
McIntyre and Mike Moffatt.
Lessard and Steve Lightfoot
each assisted twice and
Smith and Dean Allen helped
on one goal each.
Bob Rook and Colin Tripp
each scored two goals to lead
the Stephen midgets to a 5-A
win over Zurich.
The odd goal was notched
'by Allan Brand. Rook
assisted on three goals,
Tripp on two and Brand and
Russ Hayter each assisted
on one score.

scoring spree of five goals
and two assists to lead the
Stephen pee wees over
Hensall 8-2.
Mike McCallum was close
behind with three goals and
two assists. Derek McCann
and Lee Watt assisted on two
goals each.
In house league novice
action, Zurich blanked
Stephen 2-0.
To complete
Hawks tourney
The fifth annual Exeter
Hawks tournament will be
completed Saturday, after
being postponed mid -way
through the schedule by bad
weather earlier in the
month.
The event resumes at the
rec centre ,at 11:00 a.m.
when Thamesford tackles
Thedford in the first semi-
final game. At 2'30 the Ex-
eter Hawks will meet Port
Dover in the other semi-
final.
Winners of the two games
will meet for the cham-
pionship at 6:00 p.m.

Waxers
Waxers win
The Exeter novice had one
of their best weeks of the
season as they skated to
victories over Goderich and
Lucan, accomplishing both
on the road.
The Waxers nipped
Goderich 5-4, Wednesday,
and followed up with a 3-2
win over Lucan on Saturday.
Jason Heywood and Jason
Hern paced the attack in
Goderich with two goals
each, while David Schwindt
added the single. The latter
also added an assist as did
Hern.
Sherwoods
beat Saints
The Hensall Sherwoods
went on a scoring spree Mon-
day night as they defeated the
Centralia College Saints 104
in a South Huron hockey
league game Monday night at
the Stephen township arena.
The Sherwoods took a 4-1
lead after the first period of
play and clinched the verdict
with three unanswered goals
in the second 20 minutes of
play.
Ken Varley, Allan Taylor,
Brian Maher and Lloyd Allen
scored for the Sherwoods in
the first period with Dave
Kinsman getting three
assists, Maher and Varley
each helped on two goals and
Terry Caldwell picked up one
assist. •
The lone College goal in the
first period came as Mark
Thompson converted a pass
from John Jonkers.
Firing the three Hensall
goals in the second session
were Lloyd Allan, Allan
Taylor and Rick Ingram.
Brian Maher picked up two
assists and Dave Kinsman
and Taylor helped on one goal
each.
Lloyd Allan hit for two Hen-
sall goals in the third period
to run his game total to four.
Adding a single score was
Rick Ingram. Dwight Consitt
assisted on two goals and In-
gram, Maher and Kinsman
added one assist apiece.
Hitting the Hensall goal. in
the third period for the Saints
were Mark Thomson, Gregg
Inglis and Joe Scheurmann.

Lucan scored the first and
last goals in Saturday's
game, but Exeter got the
middle three to win the
evenly -played contest. Hern,
Heywood and Jeremy
Hrudka scored for Exeter
with Jeff Sanders getting an
assist.
Matt Dlllobough and Brad
Hirtzel replied for Lucan.
Shawn McFalls was
between the pipes for Exeter
in both victories.
Midges get win
The local midgets
managed only one win in
their three outings, evening
their series record at two
wins each with Huron Park
in exhibition play on the
latter's ice, Saturday.
Exeter scored four times
in the first period and
coasted to a 4-1 win.
Scott Brintnell had a pair
of tallies to pace the winners
with singles going to Ahmad
Osman and Eric Tadgell.
Steve Batten had three
assists to lead in that
department, while adding
single assists were Osman
Brintnell, Brent Dawson and
Mike Tiedeman.
Colin Tripp scored for
Huron Park on a pass from
Bob Rook.
In Goderich, Thursday, the
locals were dumped 10-5 in
Shamrock action, following a
4-2 loss to llderton at the rec
centre the night before.
Pizza Train
victorious
The Exeter Pizza Train
bantams scored a 6-3 victory
over Hensall is house league
hockey play, Saturday.
Tim Fowler led the Exeter
scoring attack with a three
goal effort. Scoring in single
fashion were Steve Pym,
Jimmy Lewis and Scott
Baptist.
Baptist and Lewis each
picked up two assists while
Dennis Murray and
Raymond Chong each helped
on one score. David Skea
scored all three goals for
Burr. Hensall.

in the loss at Goderich with
Brintnell, Greg Hern and
Tadgell adding the singles.
Tadgell added two assists
and singles were recorded by
Brintnell, Batten, Tiedeman
and Hern.
Ilderton scored twice while
enjoying a two-man ad-
vantage to overcome an
early Exeter lead and take
Wednesday's Shamrock tilt.
Tiedeman and' Batten lead the attack with Bryan
scored for Exeter with Hern Quinn getting the single. Jon
and Tadgell picking up an O'Connor helped set up three
assist each. of the goals and Jeff Hannah
drew one assist.
The Exeter bantams were
nipped 6-5 by Ilderton in
Shamrock action at the rec
centre, Wednesday, and
were dropped 5-0 by Kin-
cardine in their first game at
the Clinton tournament,

Pee wees win
The Exeter pee wees took
the opener of Wednesday's
triple -header at the rec
centre with a 5-3 margin over
Ilderton.
Ron Loucks and Robbie
McKnight had a pair each to
Hensall, Marauders
battle to 6-6 draw
The Centralia Marauders
and Hensall Sherwoods
played to a 6-6 tie Thursday
night in Hensall in South
Huron intermediate hockey
league action.
In games upcoming this`
week, the Sherwoods will be
at home to the Zurich
Buckeyes Thursday night
while the Marauders will be
in Exeter to meet the
Mohawks.
Three third period goal
two coming on power play
allowed the Marauders t
draw even with the Sher
woods and settle for a 6-6
draw.
Hensall took a 2-1 first
period lead on goals by Rick
Ingram from Jamie Cald-
well and Dave Kinsman and
Allan Taylor on a three-way
combination with Jamie
Caldwell and Rick Ingram.
The lone first period
Centralia goal was fired by
captain Hugh Wilson on an
unassisted effort.
The Hensall scoring
.machine came alive in the
second 20 minutes of play to
register four goals with only
one reply from the
Marauders.
Terry Caldwell led the
Sherwoods with two of the
four goals. The first came as
the result of a good passing
combination with Greg
Campbell and Lloyd Allan
and the second on a solo
dash.
Dave Kinsman counted on
an unassisted effort and
Lloyd Allan hit the Centralia
net on a play originated by
Greg Carhpbell.
Scoring for Centralia in the
mid -period were Cec Nickles
on passes from Rich Lather
and Mark Cronyn and Matt
Muller with passing help
from Blair Hearn and Rick
Funston.

starting the third period the

Marauders came out flying
and it took Mark Cronyn only
25 seconds to score with
assists going to Cec Nickles
and Rich Lather.
Gary Kyle of Hensall was
sent off for interference at
6.49 and it took only six
seconds for Perry Knee to
convert a pass from Randy
Somerville.
The tying goal for the
Marauders came with two
minutes and 13 seconds
remaining in the game on a
successful shot by Lather
with Cronyn assisting. It
came with Terry Caldwell of
the Sherwoods sitting out a
tripping penalty.
Each team was assessed
six minor penalties by
referees Ron Watt and
George Tryon.

The weather halted the
team's scheduled ap-
pearance in Clinton, Sunday.
Ilderton took a 3-0 lead in
Wednesday's game and were
never headed, although
Exeter managed to whittle
the margin.

narrow win
The South Huron juniors
shutout Clinton in the fourth
quarter to gain a narrow 32-
28 win over the Redmen in
Huron -Perth junior action,
Friday. Derek Hippern
scored seventeen points and
Steve Ferguson had nine in
the defensive struggle. Les
Sewell added four points.
Steve Ferguson scored ten
points and Derek Hippern
had six points as the
Panthers dropped a 33-23
decision to Woodstock
Huron. Tuesday.
The South Huron midgets
have a 3-1 regular season
record after their 57-56 win
against Clinton, Friday.
Both teams resume action
tomorrow when they host
Stratford Northwestern.
Remember that
