Es.ter's minor hockey
teams ,managed only two
wise in.six outings this week,
with scheduled games In
Goderlrh being cancelled by
the weather, Saturday.
The local novice crew
dropped a 6-1 decision to
Parkhill at the rec centre,
Sunday. David Schwindt
scored the lone goal on a
play with Jim Ahrens.
The atoms split a, pair of
games. beating Ilderton 3-1,
Sunday, after losing a heart-
breaking 6-5 decision in
Parkhill a week earlier.
Doug Clark paced the Sun-
day win with a pair of goals
while Peter Lerikos notched
the other. Tom Rolph. had
two assists and picking up
one each were Laurie
Chalmers and Rob
McLelland.
On the way to the Parkhill
game. half the team had to
turn around due to weather
conditions, and that left only
six skaters to face Parkhill,

while Laurie Chalmers
suited up for a fill-in role as
netminder.
- The locals scored four
straight goals late in the
game to even the count at 5-
5, but Parkhill scored with
four seconds left to snatch
the victory.
Larry Lewis paced the Ex-
eter attack with three goals
and an assist, while David
Dalrymple had a pair of
tallies and one assist. Tom
Rolph. David O'Connor and
Peter Lerikos added assists.
The Lucan minor teams
were at the rec centre,
Wednesday, and took home
two wins in the triple -
header.
The local pee wees started
the night off on the right foot
as they won 3-2, but the ban-
tams and midgets couldn't
follow suit.
Dan McLean, Jeff Hannah
and Jon O'Connor scored for
Exeter with McLean adding
two assists. O'Connor and
Steve Lingard also had a
single assist each.
John MacDonald scored
both tallies for Lucan.
The Lucan bantams scored
twice in the first period on
the way to a 3-1 win. Mike
Hirtzel. Jesse Crawford and
Tim Shipley scored for the
visitors with Sean Whiteford
replying for Exeter.
Lucan's midget team wqn
the final contest of the night
as they skated to a 7-4 vic-
tory. scoring two into an
emply net in the final 15
seconds.
Jeff Shipley had three
goals for Lucan and Hugh
Dietrich added a pair, while
notching the singles were
Jeff Liley and Al Craig.
Greg Hern notched two for
Exeter and singles were
fired home by Scott
Brintnell and Chris
VanGerwen.

were the team of Jim and Dorothy Chapman and Pat and Vic Cicci. The event was hosted
by the Exeter Curling Club Saturday.
South Huron all stars
battle Friday in Zurich
The annual South Huron
intermediate hockey league
all star game is set for the
Zurich arena Friday night at
8. p.m. and both teams are
predicting a victory.
A defending- league
champion Zurich Buckeyes
will take on the best players
from the other four teams
from Exeter, Hensall,
Centralia .and Centralia
College.
The all stars will be
coached by Ron Funston of
the Centralia Marauders.
The manager is Lewis
Mitchell of the Exeter
Mohawks.
The Buckeyes will ice their
regular lineup with coach
Paul Morrison in charge.
Team representative Ron
Rader said this week, "We
arc mill the champs and they
will have to prove they can
beat us on the. ice."
All stars officials Funston
and Mitchell are confident
saying, "We have the cream
of the crop on our side and
we will give them a real run
for their money.
Sharing goal tending
duties for the all stars will be'
Hensall's Steve Sararas,
Kevin Lightfoot of the
Centralia Marauders and
Centralia College's Eugene
Glavin.
The Exeter Mohawks are
being represented by Tom
Ryan, Jeff Fuller, Luc
Gagnon, Brad Daters and
Rick Moody while the
Hensall Sherwoods are
sending Rick Ingram, Jamie
Caldwell, Dave Kinsman,
Gary Koehler and Brian
Maher along with goalie
Sararas.
In addition to goalie
"Lightfoot the Centralia
Marauders in action will be
Perry Knee, Cec Nickles,
Rick Funston and Matt
Muller while Centralia
College will be represented
by . Murray Illman; Joe
Schuermann, Mark
Thompson and Kevin Giffin
in addition to goalie Eugene
Glavin. '
The Zurich lineup will
likely include goalies Jerge
Hellmann and Ken Geoffrey,
Greg Kirk, Kris Bedard, Ron
Rader, Marvin Merner, Jeff
O'Brien, Pat Bedard, Gerald
Weido, John Graham, Tom
Hayter, Mike Clarke, Scott
Consitt, Wayne Thiel, Rick
Schilbe, Mike Clarke, Ray
Weido and Randy McKinnon.
Marauders win .three
The Centralia Marauders
scored two victories in as
many starts this week in the
South Huron intermediate
hockey league.
Wednesday night on home
ice at the Stephen township
arena. the Marauders down-
ed the ('entralia College
Saints 6-1 and Friday nigh
again at home they doubled
the score 8-4 over the Zurich
Buckeyes.
In games coming up this
week. the Marauders will be
in Hensall Thursday night to
meet the Sherwoods and in
Zurich Sunday for a return
engagement with the
Buckeyes.
The annual South Huron
all star game will be played
Friday night at the Zurich
arena at 8 p.m. with the
defending champion
Buckeyes taking on the best
of the other four teams in
the league.
Six different players
shared in the. scoring as the
Marauders beat the Saints 6-
1. The only goal of the first
period was notched by Mike
Mills of the Marauders on a
pass from Cec Nickles.
In the second period the
score rose to 3-0 as Cec
Nickles set up Bill Hodge for
a successful shot and then
completed a three-way ef-
fort with Rich Lather and
Blair Hearn. .•
Rich Lather, Perry Knee -
and Ralph Wells were the
Marauders marksmen in the
final 20 minutes of play with
Rob Funston getting two .
assists. Cec Nickles, Lather
and Perry Knee each helped
on one score.
The only College goal
came early in the third
period as Joe Boyle hit the
Centralia net on a pass from
Mark Thomson.
In Friday's win over
. Zurich, the Marauders
scored six unanswered goals
in the first period and were
well on their way to victory.
Cec Nickles and Doug
Todd each scored two goals
in the opening period
barrage. Adding single
scores were Rob Funston
and Matt Muller.
Rick Funston and Rob
Funston each picked up two
assists while Rich Lather,
Randy Somerville and
Nickles added one helper.
The Buckeyes managed to
break the goose egg es-
tablished by Kevin Lightfoot
in the ('entralia goal at the
three, minute mark of the se-
cond period as Steve Bedour
registered on a three-way
passing play with Gerold
Weido and Mike Clarke.
Befo'Fe the second 20
minutes of play had expired,
the Marauders had scored
twice to up their margin on
the scoreboard to 8-1.
Rich Lather struck at
10:52 on a play started by
Mike Mills nad Matt Muller
and five minutes later it was
Rick Funston bulging the
Zurich net on passes from
Doug Todd and Muller.
The third period scoring
belonged to the Buckeyes
but it was a case of too little
too late. Steve Bedour
counted his second goal of
the `night on a pass from
Greg Kirk. Ron Rader
scored on a play set up by
Tom Hayter and Mike
Clarke and Gerald Weido
registered on passes from
Bedour and Pat Bedard.
Goals were a dime a dozen
at the Stephen township
arena Monday night as the
Centralia Marauders
defeated the Centralia.
College Saints 13-7 in a South
Huron league game.
Mark Cronyn was the
scoring star of the game as
he turned in a five goal
performance to lead the
Marauders to victory.
Close behind with four
successful shots was Rich
Lather. Rick Funston
registered a pair of goals and
singles were notched by
Blair Hearn and Mike Mills.
• Greg Inglis was the
leading scorer with two goals
for the College who led 4-3
after the first period of play.
Getting one goal each for
the Saints were Dan
Bellamy, Mark Thomson,
John Bellamy, Joe Boyle and
Laurie Eckhardt.
