Junior all star game
The fourth annual OHA
Western Junior "D" all star
game is all set for the Lucan
Community Ce'ttre Saturday
night.
The game featuring the
best from the six teams In
the northern division against
the stars of the five clubs in
the south will get underway
at 7 p.m.

allowed the Zurich
Buckeyes to score a 5-4
victory over the Exeter
Mohawks in South Huron
hockey league action
Thursday night at the South
Huron Rec Centre.
In upcoming games, the
Exeter Mohawks will be in
Hensall to meet the Sher -
woods tomorrow night,
Thursday and the Zurich
Buckeyes will take on the
Centralia Marauders Friday
night at the Stephen town-
ship arena. Centralia College
Saints will be in Z urich for
a Sunday afternoon contest.
In Thursday's game, the
Mohawks took a 3-2 lead
after the first period of play.
Dan Bell opened the
Exeter scoring at 4.44 on a
pass from Tom Ryan only to
have Kris Bedard knot the
score for Zurich about
three minutes later on a
three-way effort with Jeff
O'Brien and Scott Consitt.
Bell scored his second goal
of the game at 11.20 to vault
the Mohawks ahead on a
play started by Bin Daters
and Dave Underwood.
The Exeter lead increased
WKS
to 3-1 at 13.45 on a successful
shot by Tom Ryan with
assists going to Mike Anstett
and Dan Bell.
With five minutes left in
the first period, Greg ,Kirk
converted a pass from
Marvin Merner to pull the
Buckeyes within one goal of
being even.
The entire second period of
play was scoreless. At the
halfway mark of the third
period Zurich tied the
score as Pat Bedard
registered on a three-way
passing play with Jeff
O'Brien and Gerald Weido.
The Mohawks. bounced
right back at 16.42 on a goal
by Dave Underwood on a
.pass from Luc Gagnon to go
ahead for the third time in
the game.
It took the Buckeyes only a
minute and six seconds to
square the score again on an
unassisted effort by Mike
Clarke and Clarke was right
back to score the winning
goal with only 33 seconds left
on a play started by Marvin
Merner and Scott Consitt.
Only five minor penalties
were called by referees Ron
Watt and Bill Smith,none had
any effect on the scoring.

The north team will be
coached .by Dave Revington
of the Lucan Irish and Bob

the north are Ed Dobinson of
Lucan. Exeter Hawks' Rich
Fletcher and Larry Kropf
from Tavistock.
The other Exeter Hawks
to be selected are Bill
Glover. Brian Mercer and
Preston Dearing while Doug
Latta. Paul Wraith , and
Keith Hartwick will repre-`
sent the Lucan Irish.

Goderich minor teams
made a clean sweep of the
triple -header at the South
Huron rec centre, Wed-
nesday, as Shamrock league
action got back into gear
after the holiday break.
The pee wees trimmed
Exeter- by a whopping 10-2
count, while thebantamsand
midgets followed with 3-0
and 4-2 victories respec-
tively.
Mike Tiedeman scored
both goals for the local
midgets, with Brent Atthill
drawing the assist on one.

Irish get even break,
travel to Hensall Friday
The Lucan Irish gained an
even split in two OHA
Western Junior "D" games
played this week.
Tuesday in Tavistock the
Irish were edged 8-7 by the
Braves and the following
night on home ide ice they
squeezed past the Seaforth
Centennaires. 4-3.
The Lucan club was in
Tavistock last night, Wed-
nesday and Friday night
they travel to the Hensall
arena for a return
engagement with Seaforth.
In Wednesday's Lucan win
over Seaforth, all of the
scoring came in the first two
periods.
Jamie Shipley put the Irish
on the scoreboard on a three-
way effort with captain Paul
Wraith and Doug Latta early
in the first period and Art
Gregory converted a pass
from Dean Scott, Bob
Mommersteeg replied for
Seaforth.
Unassisted goals in the
middle frame by Paul
Wraith and Geoff Edwards
wrapped up the win for
Lucan. Notching the final
i
Seaforth goals were Kevin
Denomme and Mark
Mcllwain.
Against Tavistock, the
Irish rallied . from a 6-2
deficit at the end of the
second period to make the
score very close, but. they
couldn't get the equalizer.
The first period was even
with Doug Latta converting
a pass from Dean Scott and
then teaming up with Steve
Glenn to set up Paul Wraith
for the second Irish score.
Hitting for Tavistock were
Paul Albrecht and Rob
Froese.
The second period
belonged exclusively to the
Braves as they scored four
unanswered goals. Scoring
were Tim Bean, Ken Wet-
tlaufer, Brian Ju7i and Rob
Froese.
The Lucan boys came
alive in the third period as
Steve Glenn hit the mark on
two occasions with John
Medd assisting on both and
Doug Latta helping on one.

music, girl's health and
grade 7 teacher for Stephen
Central School for 4 years.
Now she has moved and is
teaching out west in a
Calgary elementary school.
Mrs. Soldan is now teaching
at our school. - Lisa Hewitt.
The grade 8 students of
room 1 and 2 are choosing
their subjects for High
.School next year. They have
to choose 8 credits out of 12
subjects for the year 82-83.
There will be a meeting with
parents and students of
grade 8 on January 12 and in
May they get to visit the
High School. - Heather
One game
in Stephen
Activity for Stephen minor
hockey teams this week was
restricted to one game
because of the bad weather
conditions.
In the only contest, the
Stephen midgets dropped a
6-4 decision.
The verdict was in doubt to
the final whistle as Monkton
scored the sixth and in-
surance goal with only 10
seconds remaining.
Bob Rook led the Stephen
club with two goals and one
assist. Adding one goal
apiece .were George Tomes
and Colin Tripp. Also getting
assists were Tomes and Russ
Hayter.

The Science Fair for our
school will be held sometime
at the end of February. Mr.
Brand who teaches Science
at the school has given us
ideas on what we can do. The
categories are physical
science, biological science
and general science. The 3
top winners from our school
will goon competition for the
county then go to a regional
if they win in the county. -

students are doing special
events. These events are
talking.about Christmas and
all the nice things they got.
They all have rubic cubes. -

On December 16 the
teachers had a game of
volleyball against the

champs, team eight. The
game proved to be hard and
tedious but there finally was
