Senior high school students hear about
Close to 50 senior students
crowded the library at South
Huron Monday to participate
In a panel discussion with
former students about
university and community
college.
The discussion which was
sponsored by the high school
guidance department and
chaired by student council
president, Bruce Shaw,
provided an opportunity for
students to gain valuable
Insight concerning post-
secondary education.
The advice heard most
often by the senior students
was the importance of
organization and efficient
time management while at
school.
"You have to be very
honest with yourself. You
have to do the work you need
to do in order to get the mark
you want," said former
student, Doug Raymond,

Close to eighty student
council, intramural year-

banquet.
Zurich middle game
goals were notched by Mike

moved away from home to
attend university or college,
they found that some social
adjustments were
necessary. "You could be
doing something every night
other than schoolwork. You
have to keep in mind why
you're there" said Wayne
Parsons, a first year social
science student at Huron
College.
Most of the students
agreed that living in
residence first year would be
a wise decision.
Betty Beer, a third year
English student at Huron
College, has never lived in
residence and found that in
her first year she was
isolated from the social
environment of the school.
She also emphasized the

importance of having your
"own space" in a shared
apartment where you can do
your work.
McAllister has found the
cost of living in residence
roughly equal to the cost of
renting an apartment.
"If you want to get some
money from OSAP, you've
got to stretch the truth a
little," said Dale Kerslake in
his first year of systems
programming at Fanshawe.
From his experience, he
feels there are people who
receive assistance that do
not deserve it.
All of the graduates agreed
that their education at South
Huron had prepared them
well for past -secondary
study. Raymond and Par-
sons felt that South Hurons
mathematics and science
departments had both done a
commendable job.
"There's a real op-
portunity there to learn
something. If you go with
that idea you will enjoy your
studies," said Raymond.
