A service of nine lessons
and carols was held at St.
Paul's Anglican Church Sun-
day morning at 9:30 a.m.
Readers of the nine carols
were Andrea Blackler, Mr.
and Mrs. Brent Blackler,
Bernard McCormick, Mrs.
Garth Blackler, David
Creery. Maureen Blackler,
Gerald Paul and Reverend
Smith.
W.I. moot
The roll call was answered
by naming a person who has
had an influence on your life.
It was decided to vote $1,-
000. to the swimming pool
committee who are in need
of funds again.
The meeting was on the
year of the disabled and was
in charge of resolutions and
curators. committee.
Mrs. Marvin Harwick in-
troduced the guest speaker
Sonya Jackson of London
who was formerly district
nurse in Lambton and Huron
Counties. For the past three
and a half years she has been
associated with the Easter
Seal Society of London.
She gave a report of her
work and showed pictures
and commentated on
Woodeden Camp which has
sixty-four youngsters in the
summer.
Sonya was thanked by
Mrs. John McElrea and
presented with a gift.
Mrs. Mervin Shute then
read a skit on the cow (Mrs.
Marvin Hartwick. Mrs. Fred
Parkinson as the cow) which
was humorous and enjoyed
by all.

Church women pick delegates
Students present Christmas concert at Elimville church

The Elimville Sunday
School Christmas Concert
was held Monday evening.
Mr Lorne Thrower was the
mister of ceremonies.
Preceeding the concert
everyone joined in singing a
few Christmas carols.
The welcome was given by
Erin Coward and Crystal
Hovius of the kindergarten
class The kindergarten
class also presented the skit
..Santa's Candy Shop" with
all members taking part. A
piano solo by Ann Delbridge
included "Away In a
Manger" and "At the
Skating Rink".
The nrimary class follow-
ed with a skit "Bells
Christmas" and ended by
singing several Christmas
songs. Susan Grubb followed
with a piano solo "Waltz of
the Christmas Toys".
The junior class per-
formed a puppet show en-
titled "Scrooge", "Do you
hear what I hear" and
"Christmas in Killarney."
The intermediate class
followed with a comical skit
entitled "Scrooge's
Operation."
The adult class had a in-
terview of a boxer which
proved veru comical and a
pantomime entitled "Shor-
ty'

Centralia U.C.W. met in
the auditorium of the church
which was nicely decorated
in gold -white, with candles
and a Christmas tree.
The men of the congregation
were guests.
The meeting opened with
the singing of carols. A poem
and.Scripture were read by
Marion Abbott. Devotion and
prayer were given by Iva
Blair. -
Bob Heywood entertained
with singing and playing his
accordion which was much
enjoyed and a reading by
Adeline Elliott.
Margaret Cook welcomed
all -and gave theorigin of the
Crismons. Mildred Greb,
Olive Essery and Janet
Hicks gave description of the
Crismons and what each
I symbol meant and Marion
Abbott arranged them on the
tree. The ladies of the
U.C.W. had made them
earlier ata work night. Solo
• by Lois Wilson. Mildred
Greb gave the prayer.
All were invited to the
school room were a
smorgasbord luncheon was
served by the lunch com-
mittee.

everyone had been waiting
for. He had a gift for each of
the children and they all
were able to have a visit
with Santa Claus. Everyone
joined in singing Christmas
carols tofinish the evening.
White Gift Sunday was
celebrated Sunday with the
Sunday School children tak-
ing part. Mr. Dan Coward
was in charge of the serice.
Joan Cooper read the story
"The Littlest Star" and the
children portrayed the
manger scene and stars.
Monday afternoon the
United Church Women met
at the church. Mrs. Philip
Johns and Mrs. Ina Skinner
were in charge of the
program. Mrs. Johns opened
the meeting with the poem
"The Miracle Road."
Mrs. Howard Johns read
the scripture including the
Christmas story` and led in
prayer. The film "The Other
Wise Men" was shown and
discussed. Mrs. Howard
Pym sang a solo "0 Holy
Night."
Mrs. Skinner read the
story "The First Christmas
Roses". This part of the
meeting was closed by sing-
ing "While Shepherds Watch
Their Flocks by Night."
President. Mrs. Ross
Skinner opened the business
part of the meeting with the
poem "The Priceless Gift
for Christmas". Mrs. John
Batten brought the budget in
and it was approved.
Mrs. Philip Herr*. Mrs.
Philip Johns and Mrs. Ross
Skinner will be the delegates
to the Presbyterial meeting
in Hensall January $5. The
meeting to plan the
programs for 1982 will be at
the church Tuesday,
December 29 at 9:30. A
social time followed.
