Then when they got it home they decorated it with paper and pinecones. In those days they did not have any coloured lights to hang and that's a shame. They got one gift from Santa and a gift from their parents If they were lucky they got an orange. apple and sometimes candy. Then if aunts and uncles came they might get a gift from them Their Christmas dinner was somewhat like ours but they had goose in- stead of turkey. They also put candles on the tree. It was the eseist idea yet and it would be even easeir to pull. He was just intime for his route. CHRISTMAS IN THE YEAR 2001 By Ken Fitzgerald Stephen Central I can just see it now, Christmas in the year 2001. It would certainly be easier because of tela -shopping which is shopping by tela - screen. You wouldn't have to decorate Your tree because there would be mechanical robots to do it for you. The presents would probably be able to walk to you and you couldn't eat the candy canes because they would be metalic. 1 sort of wish I was in the year 20)1. Do you? On Christmas Eve the children would gather together and their mother would tie a blindfold around • one of the boys or girls head. Then the child would take a stick and try to hit the figures. If the child hit one all of the children would run to the fallen things. That was the most fun time for everyone. MY CHRISTMAS By Jonathon Gonyou Room 6- E.P.S. Some kids think Christmas is Santa and some gifts. But I think it is the gift of love. Just being with your family is the best gift of all. Of course presents are nice but to have a family is much more important. Christmas is a day of giv- ing. not receiving, so let's give a little thought about that. GRANDPA'S CHRISTMAS By David Thiel Grade 4 Z urich P.S. When grandpa was a boy his Christmas was different from ours. Oh, yes he did have all the traditions we have but he did not get all the presents we do. In fact he only got one, or sometimes two. Santa never gave fifty or sixty dollar presents. Very seldom would they equal six or seven.. Granpa would get a toy truck or a nice teddy bear. He was very thankful when he got them. For grandpa the presents we get would be only a dream. We are very fortunate that we get all the presents we do. ,ik xry ON J' ' 4.; -mss Drawn by Joanne Slaght, Step an ntral
