Dashwood ladies pick slate,
men's club hold festive party

DASHWOOD
Z ion Lutheran Ladies'
Aid Christmas and annual
meeting was held Tuesday,
December 8 with group 2 and
conveners, Mrs. Ray Rader
and Mrs. Earl Keller in
charge. Twenty-three
members and 17 visitors
were present. Mrs. Florence
Martene, president, con-
ducted the business. Dues
were paid and yearly reports
heard from secretaries and
conveners. It was a very
busy and successful year.
Mrs. Alma Genttner gave
the report of the nominating
committee. A new treasurer,
Miss Helen Nadiger, was
appointed. Officers are,
president Mrs. Martene;
vice-president, Mrs. Ray
Rader; secretary, Mrs.
Lorne Becker; treasurer,
Miss Nadiger; card and
treat fund secretary, Mrs.
Irvin Rader; librarians,
Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs.
Harry Hayter; auditors,
Mrs. Hilda Rader and Mrs.
Frieda Keller. Nominating
committee, Mrs. Ninia Kraft
and Mrs. Shirley Van Dor-
selaer.
The Altar Guild reported
15 calls and three phone
calls, and eight cards were
sent. The new Guild is Mrs.
Lorne Becker and Mrs.
Oscar Miller.
Pastor and Mrs. Mellecke
were presented gifts. An
exchange of grits followed,
followed by a short program.
Mrs. Genttner read "The
First Christmas". Susan Van
Dorsselaer read a Christmas
poem, Mrs. Mellecke was in
charge of a playlet, "The
Wondrous Night."
A delicious Christmas
Lunch served by the group in
charge followed. A collection
was taken for the Lutheran
Hour.
Hold banquet
The Dashwood catering
group served a delicious
traditional Christmas dinner
to 35 ' United Church women
and husbands or a friend.
The tables were decorated
with poinsettias donated by
Mrs. Harry Hoffman and
won by Rev. Barbara Laing.
Bill Chandler, Gerald Mason
and Harry Hoffman.
Harry Hoffman led in a
carol sing accompanied by
Mrs. Ken McCrae. A doll
made and donated by Mrs.
Lloyd Acheson was won by
Rachael Nutt. Buncowas
played with winners - lady
high, Mrs. Everett Haist;
low, Mrs. Jim Weigand;
men's high, Don Weigand;
low, Syd Baker,
Men's club
Dashwood men's club held
their Christmas meeting
Monday, December 7 with
their wives as guests at a
delicious turkey supper.
Earl Keller, president
presided. The children's
Christmas party is Saturday,
December 19 at the hall and
help is needed Thursday
evening to pack bags. Ray
Rader gave the secretary
report and Bill Becker the
financial report.
Hubert Miller led a sing
song of Christmas carols.
The guest speaker Miss
Lynne Farquhar, program
director for Stephen
Township was introduced by
Victor Hartman. She spoke
on the Dashwood playground
as regards to grants and
programs.
Progressive euchre
followed with winners -
ladies high, Bonnie Ratz ;
low, Anne Marie Hoffman;
men's high, Ray Rader; low,
Paul Watson.
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin
Eckstein are celebrating
their 59th wedding an-
niversary on Christmas day
and wish all a Merry
Christmas.
Earl Datars, Fort
McMurray, Alberta, is
spending some time with his
mother Mrs. Laura Datars.
Employees of Hay
Township from Dashwood
were guests of the Township
of Hay and the Municipal
Hay Telephone System at the
annual Christmas party at
Dashwood community
centre, Friday, December
11.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader
held Christmas for members
of their family, Saturday,
December 12. Twenty-two in
all were present including
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller,
Brenda, Charlotte and
Karen. Z ion; Mr. and Mrs.
John de Niet Tina and
Amanda, Willowdale; Mr.
and Mrs. Dave Rader,
Stacey, Derick and
Staphanie, Dashwood; Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben
and Robin, London; and Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Bennett,
Regina, Saskatchewan.
Bi11 and Sharon Bennett
will return to Regina
Wednesday after a vacation
with their parents in London
and Dashwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schade,
Karen, Kristine and Blake
and Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Wragg, Heather and Craig
spent a week in Puerto Rico
compliments of the girls'
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Webb. They had a wonderful
vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Geiser,
Kim and Lynn and Andrea
Zimmer spent a week in
Jamaica where they had a
good time.
Visitors during the
weekend with Mrs. Aldene
Wolfe were Mr. and Mrs.
