Lead Exeter by point
Hensall moves to first
The Hensall Sherwoods
are in first place in the South
Huron intermediate hockey
league and five team
members are in the top 10 in
the scoring department.
According to statistics
released Saturday by
statistician Bob Somerville,
the Sherwoods lead with 16
points, one ahead of the
Exeter Mohawks. The
Zurich Buckeyes are third
with 13 points, the Centralia
Marauders have seven
points and the Centralia
College Saints are in the
basement' with one point.
Ken Varley of Hensall is'
the top scorer with 14 goals
and 16 assists for 30 points
followed by team-mates
Brian Maher, Dwight Consitt
and Rick Ingram with 28, 27
and 25 points, respectively.
Dave Kinsman of Hensall,
Tom Ryan and Brad Daters
of the Mohawks and Gerald
Weido of Zurich Are
deadlocked with 22 points
apiece.
Next comes Luc Gagnon of
Exeter with 21 points and
Jeff Fuller and Dave
Jackson, also of the
Mohawks with 19 points
each.
Win easily
The Hensall Sherwoods in-
creased their scoring
statistics with a decisive 7-1
victory over the Centralia
Marauders Friday night in
South Huron hockey league
action.
The Sherwoods scored the
only goal of the first period
on a successful shot by
Dwight Consitt on a pass
from Brian Maher.
They outscored the
Marauders three goals to
one in the middle session and
were well on the way to win.
The only Marauders goal
came from the stick of Doug
Todd on an unassisted effort.
Brian Maher counted two
of the Hensall goals both on
passes from Dwight Consitt
and Ken Farley.
The other second period
goals were fired by Varley
and Jamie Caldwell.
Assisting were Gary
Koehler. Maher. Consitt and
Gary Kyle.
In the third period. both
Hensall goals came on
power plays. Jamie Caldwell
scored on a solo dash and
Dwight Consitt converted a
pass from Brian Maher.
Marauders score
The Centralia Marauders
went on a scoring spree
Wednesday night as they
blasted the Centralia College
Saints 10-3 in South Huron
hockey action.
Rick Funston was the
scoring star for the
Marauders with a four goal
performance.
The first goal of the game
was tired by Joe Scheur-
mann of the Saints who
counted all three of his
team's scores. Schuermann
was back to tie the score late
in the first period after Rick
Funston and Mark Cronyn
counted for the Marauders.
Assisting were Matt Muller
and Rich Lather.
Schuermann scored again
early in the second period on
his second solo effort of the
night to put the Saints ahead
for the last time.
Later in the second period,
Rick Funston. Ralph Wells
and Rich Lather scored for
the Marauders with Mark
Cronyn getting two, assists
and Blair Hearn. Matt
Muller. Rich Lather and
Cronyn getting one assist
each.
In the third period. Rick
Funston scored twice to
complete his four goal night.
Getting one goal each were
Perry Knee. Blair Hearn
and Bill Hodge.
M Hartford helped on two
goals. Nabbing one assist
each were Blair Hearn,
Hugh Wilson. Rick Funston.
Matt Muller and Mark
Cronyn.
Skaters pass tests
A large number of
members of the Exeter
figure skating club passed
Canadian Figure Skating
Association tests held at the
South Huron Rec Centre.
Monday.
The CFSA judges were
