T -A photo Clandeboye WI toasts anniversary in 1982 Irene Lynn was hostess for the December meeting of the Clandeboye Women's Institute Edie Worthington presided and opened the meeting with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, followed by a Christmas prayer, read by June Henry. The roll call, "A family tradition at Christmas" was answered by twenty members. Jean Hodgins and Gladys Cunningham reported on the meeting they attended about catering in the official tent at the International Plowing Match in 1982. Group three was in charge of the program. Mary Scott gave a reading by Helen Steiner Rice, "A Pattern for Living." Evelyn O'Neil read a story "Christmas at Home" describing the old way of making the traditional Christmas pudding. Beth Neil read "The Meaning of Christmas" and Aggie Groenewegen con- ducted a Christmas contest. Several Christmas carols were sung, accompanied on the piano by Ruth Hill. Punch was served and everyone drank a toast to the Clandeboye Women's Institute who will be celebrating its 75th an- niversary in 1982. A delicious lunch was served by June Henry, Terry Heffernan and Eleanor Kestle, assisted by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glanville, London visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Nick Lansbergen and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wareing, London spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Wein and Paul. attended the Hardy family Christmas party held at the Lucan Community Centre, Sunday. Many friends and relatives from this area attended the 80th birthday party for Mrs. Gladys Hall, held at Cen- tennial House, London, Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Raycraft were in Wallaceburg for a few days last week visiting relatives. Viola, Barbara and Clarence Carter enjoyed the Poinsettia Festival at Swain's Green Houses, at Eagle, Sunday. Clarence Millson celebrated his 88th birthday with his family as they en- joyed dinner together at the Shillelagh Sunday evening followed by a visit at the home of Florence and Gerald Millson. Guests attended ' from Strathroy, London, Aylmer, Crediton and Centralia. Crowe delivered the first of a two part sermon on the subject "' Did God Have To Do It" and his text was "The World of God became flesh (a human being) and lived among us." God reveals Himself in other ways, - through Nature and the starry heavens above, but the perfect revelation of God's love comes through Jesus Christ. The children were told a story. Stephen Tasko was the lay reader. The anthem "It was for us" was sung by the choir. There was organ and piano music by Mr. Gilland Penny Smith. The brilliantly lighted tree and other decorations made an at- tractive setting for the service. Sunday evening the Sunday School presented their annual Christmas entertainment in the schoolroom of the church with the various''' classesunder the direction of their teachers taking part. United Church Women I The United Church Women entertained Senior Citizens at a delicious Christmas dinner on Monday in the Community Centre followed by an afternoon of games. A good time was had by all. Thursday evening the United Church Women are inviting the men to join them for their Christmas meeting In the schoolroom of the church at 8 p.m. One of the highlights will be the popular entertainer, Mr. Bob Heywood and his accordion. Mrs. Von Overholt and' Pauline were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hayter in Dashwood. Mrs. Minnie Harrison was able to return to her home. recently and Sunday her son Wayne of Strathroy visited with her. Mrs. Harrison was a Sunday evening dinner guest at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harrison. Elimville WI meets By SHIRLEY COOPER The Christmas meeting of the Elimville Women's Institute was opened with the Ode and Collect. Following the roll call "A small gift exchange" the minutes of the last meeting were read. Reports on the hospital and area convention were given. Donations were made to the Children and Family Services, and knitting and other sewing for War Memorial Children's Hospital, London to aid in their wonderful work. President, Mrs. Floyd Cooper, reported the "Vial of Life" vials have arrived and distribution to commence in the New Year. . The programme com- mittee, Mrs. Leone Brock and Mrs. Gladys Skinner opened with a Christmas carol sing song. Mrs. Brock gave the "Christmas Story" and Mrs. Skinner had a Christmas contest.
