In one of the best games
of the tourney in the se-
cond round, Saturday,
Black Creek edged the
Windsor team 4-3 in a
shootout after sudden -
death overtime failed to
declare a winner.
The London Quakers
organized by former
Lucan-Ilderton Jet star Ed
Parkinson went through
the three day event un-
defeated. They downed St.
Thomas 9-2 in Friday's se-
cond game, edged London
Sports 3-2 and the
Lakeshore Hawks 4-3 to
reach the final.
In the opening win over
St. Thomas Ed Parkinson
led the Quakers with a hat
trick performance. Follow-
ing closely with two goals
apiece were Ian McTavish
and Ken Sullivan while
Rick Sullivan and Brad
Kugalin added singles.
Scoring one goal apiece
for the Quakers in the vic-
tory over London Sports
were Bruce Heddick, Ed
Parkinson and Ian
McTavish.
Ken Sullivan scored the
overtime goal against
Black Creek. Scoring
earlier in the game for the
eventual champs were
Tom Trevail, Parkinson
and McTavish.
Dennis Thorpe played
an excellent game in goal
for the Quakers as did
Dave Hulme in the Black
Creek net.
The Lucan Hagen
Hackers reached the "B"
semi-final before being
eliminated by Leamington
7-5 although they outshot
their opposition by a wide
margin.
Brad Taylor with a two
goal effort was the top
Lucan marksman in the
semi-final with Bill
Bannerman, Greg Roberts
andJim Benn each scoring
one goal.
Gord Hardy, Benn and
Bannerman were the
Lucan goal getters in a 3-1
decision over St. Thomas.
Hardy, Benn and Gord
Moon socred a goal apiece
in the opening game loss 6-
3 to East London.
The Ilderton club
dropped two games in a
row. They lost 12-3 to Grif-
fin Sports of Detroit and 5-
4 to Aurora. Rick Martin
andJamie Robb were dou-
ble goal scorers for Ilder-
ton while Bob Evans,
Kevin Jamieson and Tom
Hodgins each fired one
successful shot.
In post tournament
ceremonies Quakers cap-
tain Wally Keating
accepted the Lucan Cup
from Wally Peters while
reeve Ivan Hearn
presented the village of
Lucan trophy to captain
Rick Stevens of Windsor.
Al Sinclair of Black
Creek was the scoring
champion and he received
a village of Lucan crest
and pin from councillor
Larry Hotson who is also
chairman of the Lucan
Community Centre board.
Gord Hardy is president
of the sponsoring Lucan
and district men's hockey
association. Mike Ander-
son is vice-president and
directors are Pete Martin,
Bill Darling, Brian Noyes,
Bill Boshart, Rick
Gwalchmai, Don Murray
and Marty Wraith.
