Receiving the Murray Car- diff Citizenship trophy was Bevan Shapton. RR 1, Ex- eter. Bevan is the son of Bruce and Dolores Shapton of Stephen township and has beeninvolved in many 4-H activities. In addition to his 4-H in- HIGH 4-H SCORE — Elaine Pym of RR 1 Centralia is receiv- ing the C.S. MacNcxdghton Trophy. Don Pullen agricultural representative for Huron County is making the presentation. Elaine earned the award by achieving the highest score of any of the 4-H members in the county. Dillon photo volvement Bevan was the reserve junior champion at the 1981 International Plow- ing Match held near Barrie. A graduate of South Huron District High School, Bevan is now a student at the University of Guelph. Dur- ing the past year he was in- volved in a Junior Farmer exchange in Wales and was chosen to represent the Ex- eter Co -Op at the annual United Co-Operatuves camp at Lake Couchiching. Receiving the C.S. MacNaughton trophy for the highest 4-H score in the county was Elaine Pym, RR 1. Centralia. Elaine won the reserve championship with her Limousin cross steer at the recent Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Winning the Warden's novice award for attaining the highest points for a first year member was Patti Love. RR '3, Parkhill. Pattie who gained 866 points in the Exeter calf club received her trophy from Huron warden Fred Haberer. Elaine Pym and Patti Love were double winners. Elaine won the J.A. Anstett Jeweller wrist watch for the highest score in 4-1-1 beef clubs and Patti won an award from Cardinal Seeds as the highest first year scorer in 4-H beef clubs. In 4-11 dairy clubs, Susan Van Egmond achieved the highest score. Brent Van Osch won the Silver Dollar competition. Donna Marie Johnston had the highest score for a first year member. Kevin Smith was the top showman and Darren Connelly had the champion Holstein calf. Brian McGavin was a tri- ple winner. He was the champion all-round show- man. exhibited the cham- pion 4-11 gilt and had the highest score in 4-H tractor clubs. In the 1981 Inter- national Plowing Match. Brian was junior reserve champ along with Bevan Shapton. Greg Dougall was the winner of two snowmobile club awards. Bill Kinsman had the highest plowmen's club score and exhibited the champion 4-11 steer. Attaining the highest scores in the various other clubs were: Paul Dodds, swine: Kim Kipfer, horses; David Pullen, rabbits and sheep: Carole Anne Hohenadel, first year swine; Cheryl Stewart. farm safety. Other champions were Murray Sholdice, market pig: Kevin Johnston, hereford calf: Steven Shelley. shorthorn heifer; Anne Procter, shorthorn steer: Kippfield calf club, corn and grain exhibits; Huron rabbit club, white bean exhibit and Kate Boon, fleece exhibit. Tops in shownmanship were Anne Procter, beef; David Townsend. sheep; Cheryl Cann, horses. Winning in other categories were Brent Daw- son. outstanding achieve- ment in field crops, Greg Hoggarth, press reporting. Lyle Kinsman, 4-H gate sign exhibit and Elizabeth Palmer and Heather McIn- tosh. top showman in the North Huron 4-H Trailblazers. Judging competition awards went to Alison Edgar. Sherri Marshall, Jeff Alce. Larry Baer, Terry Smith. Harold Weiderman and Gary Godkin. A number of certificates were presented to members completing from six to 24 projects, They were: 24 projects - Elaine Pym, Bevan Shapton, Terry Smith, Cheryl Stewart and Paul Stewart. 18 projects - Greg Dougall, Chris Meier. 12 projects - Cheryl Cann, Helen Dougall. Peter Dougall, Bruce Godkin. Alan SnowmobileHodgert. David Marshall club is set Prospective members of the South Huron Sno-Goers 4-H snowmobile club are reminded of the club's organizational meeting. It will be held Wednesday, December 10 at 8 p.m. at the Stephen Central School library. The club is open to boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 20 years as of January and Michael Stewart. TOP1IN HURON 4-H — Murray Cardiff presented the trophy he donated to the 4-H club member deemed to be outstanding in both club work and in citizenship to Bevan Shapton RR 1 Exeter this year's winner. Bevan has been working with 4-H for seven years He hoc completed 25 projects and has been a very capable executive member of several 4-H agricultural clubs.
