semi-final playoff action
yesterday.
South Huron played heads -
up ball for the first three
quarters. Wednesday, and
led Goderich, 37-25. Joanne

coach Pat Rowe about the
point guard's fourth period
play.
Goderich effectively rattl-

uce of their half court trap
and scored 20 points in the
final quarter to triumph, 45-

Janet Pfaff and Charlene
Verbeek had 16 points and 13
points respectively for South
Huron.
"We were let down from
the day before and seemed

said about the squad's 34-24

At one point Rowe bench-

Bogart, the lose of running
back Rick Lindenfield to
hamstring injury early in the
second quarter made an
important difference.
"It hurt us, both physically
and psychologically. If he
had been there, they would
have had to key on him
which opens up the rest of
the offence," Bogart said.
Lindenfleld rushed for at

least 100 yards in each of
South Huron's regular
season contests.
The game might best be
labelled a defensive
struggle. It certainly didn't
provide alot of excitement.
Goderich had just 140
yards rushing compared to
South Huron's 131 yards.
Neither team passed well, in
the cold, blustery conditions.
"I couldn't have asked
more of our defense. They
played super." Bogart said.
Greg Prout was a defensive
standout with 20 key tackles
and a fumble recovery, In
addition to averaging 40
yards on his 13 punts.
Scott Turnbull was close
behind with 19 tackles.
Jamie Chaffe had 9 tackles

If •South Huron's defense
,was super, the Viking
defensive unit was just as
tough. "They had us stymied
in the second half" Bogart
conceded. There were 350
spectators present at the
game.
The Panther's gained only
one first down during the
whole second half. In the
absence of Lindenfleld,
replacement Jeff Rowe ran
14 times for 48 yards. Wayne
Smith had 38 yards on 11
carries, but South Huron
could only gain 5 first downs
through rushing.
South Huron defeated
Goderich 21.16 in the regular
