Benefits of Mourning Customs
Attending a wake. making a condolence coll. offer-
ing help to the bereaved - all are two-way acts of
care -giving.
These mourning practices directly benefit the bereav-
ed family and one's self. In her book, "Death. the
final Stage of Growth." Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
advises that the purpose of mourning should be to
allow for a full outpouring of grief. Mourning
becomes the opportunity for the family to re -group
after the loss of a member. especially to be able.
then. to continue living. loving. working and enjoy-
ing one and other.
By getting this outpouring of grief early. we help to
prevent pent-up feelings of guilt and regret from
blossoming later with psychologically unhealthy
repercussions' "Getting it out of your system" as
soon as possible is appropriate therapy in most in-
stances. experts ogree'

Tiger Times
From Stephen Central School
This is my third column of
the year and all of my
reporters are doing just fine.
Here are some more ex-
amples of their work.
Remember to watch next
i week for this column. Tony
Tiger.
Class newspaper - The
students of room 9 were
given a Social Studies pro-
ject. They undertook to
make a newspaper. The
newspaper was divided into
three secitons: class news,
family news, and school
news. Their teacher, Ms.
Thomson, sent the students
out around the school to be
reporters. Some people that
they interviewed were Mrs.
Furtney and also the
students of room 4.
Congratulations, room 9 on
an interesting newspaper!
Carolyn Pritchard.

eight's are selling many

task of choosing these two
seniors and three juniors.
The chosen juniors are Joel
Lamport, Kim Hoffman, and
Terri Maurer. Seniors are
Bonnie Turnball and Tracy
Ratz. Julie Hendrick will
come to all practices and be
a spare if anyone can not be
at special events. Thanks to
all the girls that tried out
and to the teachers that
were judges. - Susanne
Smith.
Career week - This week is
Career Week. Our classes
are doing many different ac-
tivities to commemorate the

of different careers using
hats. All students are dress-
ing up in the uniform of a
career that they would like .
to be and wearing these on
Friday. - Leanne Stuart.
Hallowe'en Activities

was a door decorating con-

a Hallowe'en they had! -

Hallowe'en masks - Mon-
day, October 26, the grade
