Mary Anne Johanna Gielen and William Albert Smith were
united in marriage recently at Our lady of Mount Carmel
Roman Catholic Church with Father Joseph .Neligan of-
ficiating. The bride is the daughter of Harry and Johanna
Gielen, RR 2, Crediton and Fred and Eileen Smith, Drumheller,
Alberta are parents of the groom. Bridesmaids were four
sisters of the bride, Kathleen, Janet, Pauline and Rosemary
Gielen and Shannon Gielen was flower girl. The best man was
Richard Springham and guests were ushered by Daryl Smith,
Rick Bjorge and Henry Weijnan. After a honeymoon in On-
tario, the couple has taken up residence in Grand Prairie,
Alberta.
Clandeboye ladies
have hungry meal

The November meeting 01
the Clandeboye United
Church Women was held at
the home of Gwen Lynn. The
worship service was con-
ducted by Mary Scott who
also read two poems "Our
Lord" and "War and
Peace."
Jean Brown read a story of
an old soldier and Hazel
Williams gave a reading,
"Peace is the seed that
carries it's Divinity within
itself". The study, "The
Third World" was taken by
Beth Neil.
A reading on the teaching
of young mothers in the care
of their children in Haiti,
was given ' by Kay
Armstrong, also a poem on
Remembrance Day.
The president has asked

pick slate
A recent Exeter senior
citizen program convened by
Mrs. Dorothy Bullock com-
prised of solos by Tina
Smith, musical numbers by
Ella Frayne accompanied by
Marlene Mathers, apoem by
Dorothy. musical selections
by Joe Boland, a story by
George Mercer, were very
much enjoyed.
A letter was read from the
Exeter Hawks inviting the
seniors to a hockey game.
Edith Love and Walter
McBride were nominated to
the Senior Advisory Group.
Mrs. Olga Davis presented
the slate of officers for 1982.
Mrs. Nola Love, Dashwood
conducted the election.

close of the meeting the
hostess served a special
lunch "What the Hungry
World would eat."
Several ladies from this
area attended the St. Pauls
Anglican Church bazaar in
Kirkton Saturday, held at
the K -W Community Centre.
The large amount of ex-
cellent quality hand work,
home baking and canning,
etc. that was for sale is a
real credit to the small con-
gregation supporting it, and
also explains the large
crowd in attendance from
far and near.
Pete and Aggie
Groenewegen were guests
at the wedding of Pete's
niece, Teresa Soudant and
Tony Kester, at St. Boniface
R.C. church at Zurich on
Friday evening. Reception
was at the Dashwood Com-
munity Centre.
Hazel. Marie and Elaine
Cunningham were joint
hostesses for a family bridal
shower on Saturday after-
noon in honour of Lois
Noland of Evansville,
Manitoulin Island, whose
marriage to Allan Cun-
ningham takes place in
December.
Jean Hodgins and Velma
Hardy represented the
Clandeboye W.I. at the Lon-
don area Women's Institute
convention and banquet,
held at St. Marys Communi-
ty Centre. Thursday and Fri-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Carter and Joanne attended
Commencement Exercise at
Medway High School, Fri-
day evening. Joanne receiv-
ed her Secondary School
Graduation Diploma also an
Academic "M". Elizabeth
Markus, a former resident
of Clandeboye received the
Grade 12 Proficiency Award
in Art. Congratulations,
girls!
Viola Carter and her
sister, Evelyn Parker of
Harriston spent the weekend
in Windsor with Mrs.
Parker's daughter and son-
in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Bill
Millan and family and
attended the Christmas
bazaar at their church.

Kippen church women pick new slate of officers

Kippen U.C.W. met
November 2 in the Sunday
School Room with 19
members present. Mrs. John
Sinclair conducted the
Worship which opened with
a hymn, followed by Scrip-
ture.
The theme "Hearing Joy
and Gladness" written by
Amy Bolding was timely and
inspirational. A verse on
"Happiness was read, offer-
ing received by Mrs. Lloyd
Cooper and dedicated by
members singing Doxology.
A hymn followed with a
prayer written by Helen
Steiner Rice. Roll call was
"Little things thatmakelife
beautiful".
Topic was conducted by
Mrs. Emerson Kyle and was
presented as a skit, "The
Little Yellow Ticket". Mrs.
Keith Lovell and Mrs.
Gerald Moffat assisted in
the presentation which
vividly protrayed the moral
of the Story, "An approach
to Sharing".
Mrs. Robert Kinsman,
president, opened the
business portion with a
Cathedral Prayer, Mrs. Bert
Faber gave the treasurer's
report and Mrs. David
Cooper gave the nominating
committee report. Officers
