Dear Editor.
We would like to inform
your readers that we will
soon be marking the 100th
anniversary of Canada's last
rebellion. and we need their
help. In 1885, Louis Riel and
his Metis and Indian sup-
porters arose on the
Saskatchewan prairies,
protesting their treatment at
the hands of the govern-
ment. Militia units from On-
tario. Quebec and the
Maritimes were called up to
quell the rebellion.
To mark this centennial.
the Glenbow Museum in
Calgary is organizing a ma-
jor exhibition on the
rebellion which we plan to
circulate across Canada.
However. we need the help
of anyone whose relatives
were involved in the militia
at that time who might have
souvenirs. parts of uniforms,
Indian relics. photographs,
letters. or anything relating
to the rebellion which might
have been brought back. We
are also trying to find
anything dealing with the
militia units themselves -
colours. accoutrements,
weapons. etc.
We are prepared to buy,
borrow or accept donations
of such items r our exhibi-
tion. If you h v anything or
can put us i touch with
anyone who do s. we would
certainly like you to write or
phone us collect (403-264-
8300) .
The year 1885 was impor-
tant in Canadian history.
You can help us to com-
memorate it.

Dear Sir:
The Lon.don and St.
Thomas Real Estate Board
has sent the following letter
to the Postmaster General,
the President of Canada
Postal Services and to local
Federal M.P.'s. The Board
is of the opinion that your
readers might like to read
the opinion of our 900
member organization and
perhaps such readers may
wish to express their in-
dependent views on this
matter.
"Canada Post has in-
dicated that the cost to mail
a letter in Canada will in-
crease from 17 cents to 30
cents. It is suggested that
this may be the usual
political ploy to test public
attitude and that if there is
no great protest a conclusion
is reached that everyone
agrees thereto.
The London and St.
Thomas Read Estate Board
wishes to register its protest
to this 76ch increase. an in-
crease which private enter-
prise cannot match.
The Board further wishes
tostrenuouslyprotest the in-
tent to legislate that charges
for prik ate enterprise
couriers must be higher than
Canada Post to protect the
inefficiencies of the postal
service. This. in the board's
opinion. is paramount to
price fixing. unfair competi-
tion and another move
against the tree enterprise
system on which this nation
is built."
Yours very truly,
R. C. Annis.
President.

Estate Board

Dear Sir:
I am employed as a
professional automobile
salesman for Hensall Motors
Ltd.. Hensall. Ont.
To -day the provincial sales
tax of 7°h has been removed
from the sale of 1981 new
cars and trucks, as you
know.
Do you really believe this
will stimulate business? Put
people back to work?
Whatever?
It is a start in the right
direction but only a start.
My employer has in his in-
ventory $400.000.00 - $450,-
000.00 of new 1982 Mercury
cars and trucks. (yes we still
have a number of 81's too,
but very few). Interest on
this amount of inventory is
about $275.00 per day
$8250.00 per month $99000.00
per year. We need to move
these cars and trucks as
much as the 81's. Then the
used sales have been very
spotty.
I think if the Government
wants to get things going,
then roll the tax off all cars
and trucks. new and used for
30 days. Then you might see
some reactions. If we sell
some 82's along with a good
81 clean up. then the dealer
might feel like ordering
some more new cars which
might get the ball rolling and
keep the plants open and
building.
These are some of my
feelings. Do some more
checking around before
more dealers fold up shop.
Don't wait too long. Take a
long look at this killer in-
terest situation . I sincerely
hope you can do something.

Did you know that
refrigerators sell very well
