Trip to museum
Many celebrations at St. Patrick's school
The first of many school
celebrations was held on
October 9th, when St.
Patrick's school children
recognized Thanksgiving
Day by holding a celebration
in which pupils from Junior -
Kindergarten through to
Grade 8 participated. This
celebration was planned and
co-ordinated by Mrs.
Maxwell and Mrs. Kelly.
Parents were given an
opportunity to attend class
meetings. Each teacher
outlined the programs that
are being taught in their
classroom.
United Church
Sunday morning members
and friends of Lucan United
Church were welcomed to
the service by Bernice
Lockyer and Wes Stanley.
Rev. Keith Brown com-
menced a new series entitled
"Four Pictures of the
Christian" based on the
statements of Jesus in
Matthew 5:13-16 dealing this
morning with ,Vs. 13.
This morning, Wednesday,
(note change of day), the
Cradle Roll meets in the C.E.
Wing. All, mothers with their
pre-school children. are
welcome.
Next Sunday, November 8,
following morning worship,
everyone is invited to attend
the wreath -laying and Act of
Remembrance Service at
the Legion Hall. "Let Us
Remember".
Minor injuries
in area mishap
Only minor injuries were
suffered in a near head-on
crash on Highway 4 at the
Medway Creek bridge, just
south of Concession 12 in
London township Monday
morning.
The vehicles were driven
by Stephen Johnson, London
and Brenda Lessard,
Waterloo. Constable D.N.
Marshall set total damages
at $8.000.
The only other accident
investigated this week by
Lucan OPP officers oc-
curred Thursday at 6.20 p.m.
on Concession 16 in London
township, 1.2 kilometres
west of County road 22.
The drivers of the two
vehicles were Michael
Layng, RR 2 Denfield and
John Turcot, RR 3, Denfield.
Constable W.T. Hodgins
listed damages at 91.600.
Many children will be
helping The Multiple
Sclerosis Society by par-
ticipating in the M.S. Read-
a-thon. These children will
help to raise money for
Multiple Sclerosis research
and at the same time develop
valuable reading skills. •
Train for
leadership
Rev. and Mrs. Keith
Brown, Ed and Freeda
Melanson and Iva M.
Hodgins attended an all day
leadership training event
Saturday, at Calvary United
Church in London.
This event was concerning
the General Council Human
Sexuality Report "In God's
Image - Male and Female."
It was a most enlightening
day but your correspondent
still finds the report most
confusing and it is hard to
understand the thinking of
those preparing the report as
so much of it is absolutely in
opposition to what she un-
derstands as "right and
wrong."
As an extension of their
Environmental Studies
program Mr. Dutton and
Mrs. Forrest's grade 3-4
class have visited several
businesses in the com-
munity. These have included
Hessel's pig farm, Ver-
steegh's apple orchard and
Lewis's chicken farm.
For the past few weeks,
junior and senior students
have been involved in
Houseleague soccer games
which have been played
during the lunch hour. The
winning team for the Junior
Girls was comprised of
Teresa VanGeel, Mary
Morkin, Lisa Buys, Nicole
Welsh, Lori Lansink and
Tina -Marie VanBoxmeer.
The winning team for the
Junior Boys was comprised
of Wayne Haygarth, Chris
Bell, Eddie VanKerhoerle,
Pat Kelly, Glen Murphy and
Michael Prevost.
The Children's Museum
On Tuesday, Ocotber 20th
our class went to the
Haunted House in the
Children's Museum in
New pastor at
Revival Centre
Sunday morning Bruce
Shaw introduced the new
pastor, Rev. Cliff Williams,
Rev Williams asked his wife
and son Mark to stand.
Danny Gillard sang "I Come
to the Garden."
Rev. Williams ministered
from Luke 1:5-17 and 19:9-13
stressing that we need to
occupy until Jesus comes, do
the work we are called to do,
remain faithful, for God will
bless us 'where we are.
Wherever we happen to be,
do our work as unto the Lord.
As Zecharias prayed for
years for a son, doing his
work for years faithfully,
without seeing the answer to
his prayers, he was oc-
cupying until God came and
answered his prayer. His job
could have been boring, but
he projected his faith to God.
The incense of our praise will
wipe away our problems.
Lucan Revival
centre
Sunday evening Doug
Butler sang "I Should Have
Been Crucified," and
"Because He Lives."
Rev. Cliff Williams spoke
from 2 Kings 4:1-7, saying so

often when we have needs we
fail to ask God for help. The
widow in this story cried to
God's prophet. We have
Jesus to turn to. The prophet
asked her what she had in
the house even in her need.
Sometimes the problem is so
great we lose sight of what
we have. There is always
something in our lives God
wants to use to help others.
There is the promise of God
to provide miracles.

Youth group
makes plans
Members of the Lucan
Youth Group met at Holy
Trinity Anglican Church
Sunday evening, October 25
to plan activities for the fall.
They plan to sell Christmas
cakes again this year as a
fund-raising activity, and
will be going roller skating in
London Saturday evening of
this week.
A decision was made to
meet every second Sunday
night at Holy Trinity
Anglican Church, com-
mencing November 8 at 7:30.
This is being done so there
will be no doubt as to when
and where the meetings will
be held. Extra activities will
be held in the United Church.
All young people of high
school age are invited to
share in this enthusiastic
group. Leaders are Barb
Bannerman and Bryan
Smith.
in costumes. 1 was a devil.
We also made bats and hats.
They let ua put make up on. I
didn't look so good when 1
had It on because Mrs.
McClure put it on me. There
was a bat on the wall. When
you pulled its string it would
flap its wings. It was purple.
It's kind of a funny color for
a bat. We also made
moustaches to wear. There
was a pretend fire place you
could go inside it. If you°
turned right there was a
witch. If you turned left there
was a coffin. There was a
dragon and you could go
through its belly.
Mrs. Jeannine Damen,
Mrs. Dorothy Reymer, Mrs.
Sandy Damen went with us
and helped us in the
museum. We all enjoyed
the trip.

potatoes from sprouting.
Do you know how much
batter to use in and odd size
cake pan? Fill the pan with
water. You'll need half that
amount of batter.
