OcdfeIIows mark 100years with special guests, presentations MacGregor N.G. and won by Rick Willert. Juunuuutluu The Centennial of Hensall Lodge No. 223 Independent Order of Odd Fellows of On- tario. Hensall Ontario 1881- 1981. and the Official visit of the Grand Master to Huron District No. 8 was celebrated at the Hensall Community Centre on Satur- day evening with a large representation present. The Chairman was Bro. Charles D. Hay P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Rev. A most delicious dinner was served by the Hensall United Church Ladies . The head table guests were introduced by Bro. Cecil Pepper and Bro. Lloyd Ferguson introduced the new members. The head table guests were piped in by Nelson Howe and the table was beautifully decorated with the birthday cake and baskets of flowers, which were drawn for and the first basket was won by Mrs. Paul Neilands and the se- cond by Mrs. Harold Connel, Seaforth. Reeve Paul Neilands of Hensall brought greetings from the village. Warden of Huron County Fred Haberer of Zurich spoke for the county. Jack Riddell M.P.P. spoke bring- ing words of greetings and Murray Cardiff M.P. Brussels brought con- gratulations. Mrs. Donna St. John sang two beautiful solos "Amazing Grace" and 'How Great Thou Art" ac- companied by Mrs. William Rogerson at the piano. Veteran members over fif- ty years were Bro. Earl Campbell P.D.D.G.M., Bro. Bert Horton. P.G. 54 years; Bro.. Stanley Love, P.G. 57 years: Bro. Archie Parsons, P.G. 57 years: Bro. Earl Campbell was presented with his sixty year Jewel by District Deputy Grand Master Bros. Alex McBeath and Grand Master Bro. Clifford Seeley, Grand Master of Ontario pinned the jewel on Bro. Earl Campbell who made a fitting reply ex- pressing the changes in his years of Oddfellowship. Bro. Dessert euchre held The Hensall Women's Institute held a most successful dessert euchre on Wednesday, October 21. The tables were decorated with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Corbett, Jeff Corbett, Sheila Riley. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Taylor attended the Polington-Taylor wedding at Kilworthy on Saturday. Mrs. Bessie Garland of St. John Newfoundland return- ed to her home on Saturday after spending the past two weeks with her friend Mrs. Hazel Luther. T -A photo Kippen Institute learn about eating habits and weight loss By MRS. RENA CALDWELL Kippen East W.I. met October 21 at the home of Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse, Egmondville. President Mrs. Drummond was absent and Mrs. Al Hoggarth conducted the meeting. An invitation to Elimville for November 11 was received. Since this is the night of Kippen's fall supper many Kippen ladies will be unable to attend. Mrs. Grace Drummond and Mrs. Grace Pepper will be delegates to the area convention in St. Marys November 5, 6. Directions regarding voting on the resolutions were given. Roll call, "A favourite Childhood Food" brought many happy memories. Mrs. Hoggarth contributed a poem, "Hallowe'en" as well as a few stories. Mrs. Alex McGregor' chaired the program and introduced the speaker Mrs. Edison McLean, Seaforth. Mrs. McLean conducted an interesting and informative study of our eating habits, now to reduce weight and how to maintain our body needs. Mrs. McLean was thanked by Mrs. McGregor. Mrs. Ross Broadfoot read a thought provoking poem on Friendship. Mrs. Robert Kinsman won the priz e on the diet contest. Mrs. Stewart Pepper gave courtesy remarks. Mrs. KNECHTEL Thank You for your Patronage with a plaque to which Bro. Eric Mansfield Noble Grand of Hensall 1.O.O.F. respond- ed. A toast to the Hensall Lodge was proposed by Bro. John Moffatt D.D.G.W. and Bro. Eric Mansfield N.G. responded. The toast -to the visitors was given to Bro. Alex McBeath D.D.G.M. to which Bro. Garnet Hicks P.D.D.G.M. responded. Past Grand Masters Bro. John Broadfoot and Bro. Wayde Past Grand Masters were recognized. Bro. MacBeath D.G.M. introduced his in- stallation team. The toast to Grand Lodge was given by Bro. Ernie Chipchase P.D.D.G.M. and responded to by Bro. Clif- ford Seeley Grand Master of Ontario who in his address spoke on the theme "Wanted Enthusiasm" and his motto "We can, we will, we must" and working together for the good of the Order. He also stressed the project for the blind Bro. Alex McBeath D.D.G.M. presented Bro. Seeley G.M. with a gift. Chairman Bro. Charles Hay P.D.D.G.M. gave fitting remarks and the program closed with "0 Canada". Dancing was enjoyed to music by the "Footnotes". Everyone enjoyed a wonder- ful evening celebrating the Centennial of the Oddfellows Lodge. Eric Mansfield N.G. presented a picture of Pioneer Members by Brian Richman. Tickets were sold on a quarter of beef and pork by the I.O.O.F. members and the draw for the beef was made by Bro.
