Zurich LCW hears talk on the disabled Miss Wendy Hines, Public Education Co-ordinator for the South Huron Association of the Mentally Handicapped was the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Lutheran Church Women. Miss Hines discussed the prevention of handicaps and the rehabilitation of disabled persons. The goal of the S.H.A. is that retarded per- sons live in a state of dignity and share in all aspects of community living. She show- ed slides of ARC Industries and the group homes in Ex- eter. Mrs. Marg Deichert, vice president took charge of the business meeting. Members were reminded that a special thank -offering would be taken next meeting. Six members said they would be interested in attending the western district meeting in Stratford October 28. A thank you letter was read from the Women's Aux- iliary of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary for the $25 dona- tion and the gift of a quilt. Mrs. Alex Miller read the address and Mrs. Lorne Elliott made the presentations. Mrs. Robert Laing gave the scripture lesson, reading from Luke 17 verses 11 to 18 followed by prayer by Mrs. Kerslake. For her special number Mrs. Lorne Elliott read Bill Smiley's version of a garage sale. Mrs. Duncan Scott had the study book on India, dealing with the different religions. Roll call was answered with a verse on Gratitude. For her topic Mrs. John Templeman gave a paper on the Gift of Gratitude and a poem, I am Thankful For'. President Mrs. Alex Miller presided for the business meeting. A thank you was read from the Salvation Army for the gift of clothing, books, etc. received. Mrs. Miller reported on the executive meeting held recently at St. Andrews, Stratford and reminded everyone of the fall con- ference on Wednesday, october 28 at the Caven Presbyterian Church in Exeter. TEMPLEMAN Mrs. Glen Elliott and Mrs. John Templeman planned a community shower for Karen Miller bride -elect, Wednesday evening in Cromarty Church basement with a large crowd in at- tendance. Mrs. Glen Elliott welcomed everyone. Musical numbers sung by Tanya Van Allan, Lisa Gardiner, Cherie Elliott, Wanda and Michelle Martyn and Trudy and Tracey Quance ac- companied by Mrs, John Scott, were much enjoyed along with readings by Mrs. Alex Miller and Mrs. Gordon Parsons. Everyone enjoyed contests afterwhich Karen and her attendants, Cherie Mueller, Pamela Wallace, Ann Dolmage, Shirley Miller and Erin Richardson were in- vited to the front. Mary Jane Templeman read an address of good wishes and Gall Willard presented Karen with many lovely and useful gifts. Karen expressed her appreciation to all Personals Miss Mary Jane Tem- pleman, has returned to Edmonton, Alberta, after spending 12 days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Templeman and family.
