parish conduct a mission.
Fr. Mason is a priest of the
Redemptorist Order in
Toronto. He has been
preaching retreats and other
spiritual renewals on a full
time basis for many years.
There will be morning and
evening mass's or services
each day at 9 a.m. and 7:30
p m respectively.

opened their meeting with a
prayer. Our adopted family
in India wrote a letter of
thanks for our supper, and
we received a thank you note
for our league hosting a
successful deanery meeting.
Appeals for our annual
donations were made to
C.N.I.B. Cystic Fibrosis and
Catholic Church Extension
Society.
Our ladies have been in-
vited to attend a Craft and
Bake sale at the Mennonite
Church House on November
21, 2-4 p.m. proceeds going to
refugees in Somalia.
A big thanks to Maria
Mathonia for the beautiful
thanksgiving arrangement
she arranged at our parish
altar.
Rose Regier has kindly
taken on the Community Life
Convenership Pro Life News
Magazines were discussed
and passed out. Our Right to
Life Membership Drive is
on. We encourage everyone
to become a member.
Brother Bob's Bingo was a
success once again this year.
We are planning a Bazaar on
November 8 from 10-3 p.m.
at St. Boniface School.
Pearl Miller explained the
Vial for Life that Zurich
Citizens will soon become
acquainted with in the near
future.
The evening ended with
some entertainment. Our
surprise guest was Joan
Regier who dressed up in a
wild costume and called out
Bingo. What a sport! A lunch
was then served.

summer we think that we

Films were shown on Mon-
day evening followed by
refreshments
The Ladles of Exeter
United Church sponsored the
monthly birthday party on
Tuesday evening The
residents enlrr,ed the varie-
ty programme that they
presented and the delicious
lunch which followed.

in Goshen Church on Sun-

Next Sunday Miss Brown
is preaching at Kippen An-
niversary. Rev. Bob
McMullen will be in Varna
and Goshen.
UCW meets in November
Dr. Betty Bridgeman will
be in this area at the time of
the UCW meeting on Thurs-
day, November 5. and is able

at 2 p.m. with Goshen in-
vited. Young people are en-
couraged to come and meet
Dr. Bridgeman after school.
Varna 4-14 club
On Monday night, October
19. we held our fifth meeting
at Sandra Turner's house.
Poached ,eggs were discuss-
ed. and we learned that a
hardboiled egg spins faster
than a raw one. We reviewed
our home assignment -
recipe and pictures of eggs.
Sandra explained the four
functions of eggs are leaven-
ing. thickening, binding and
emulsifying.
Mavis, Julie Webster and
Jeanette made chicken a' la
king. and Julie Consitt and
Laura made cream puffs.
Mrs. Turner made the fill-
ing. We planned what each
would bring to ou. 4-14 party
for parents. then ate the
cream puffs with filling of
chicken a' la king.

Times set for public skating
On behalf of the parents, I
would like to thank those
responsible fbr seeing that
the kids are getting some ice
time at the arena for public
skating at good hours, which
are from 7 p.m. to 8:30 on
Friday nights and Saturday
afternoon from 3:15 to 4:46
and hope it will continue for
the rest of the winter.
Ken Mittleholtz left last
Tuesday for India where he
is spending some time with
his brother, Bro. Bob.
Successful bingo
The bingo for Bro. Bob
Mittleholtz on Sunday was a
big success. Lucky winners
were: grand prizes, a por-
table T.V. won by Rose
Regier (Lee); Share the
Wealth, worth $60.00 was
won by Barbara Regier, both
of Zurich. The Jack Pot
prize a "Pig" went to Rob-
bie Ducharme, Hensall, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome
Ducharme.
It was organized by the
C.W.L and Holy Name Men.
Royal bus trip
There are still a few seats
left for the bus trip to the
Royal Winter Fair in Toron-
to on Thursday, November
19. But act fast and phone

Be prepared for the
children when they come
Trick and Treating on Satur-
day night.
Brownies meet
The weekly meeting of the
Brownies was held on Tues-
day in the form of a
Hallowe'en party at the
Lutheran Church which was
really enjoyed by all 18 girls.
GMSA meets Mondays
The monthly meetings of
the G.M.S.A. was held on
Monday evening at the Men-
nonite Church with a good
attendance. The night has
been changed to Monday
now instead of Fridays.

Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to
Elroy Desjardine who is a
patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital. London. Also to
Mrs. Nete Oesch who is in
Victoria Hospital.
Allen Scott spent last week
on a camping and hunting
trip in Northern Ontario
along with four friends from
various places. Allen shot
his first big moose.
Catherine Burn of
Streetsville spent from Fri-
day to Sunday with •her
sister, Joan Smith and fami-
ly along with Donna Merner
of Toronto who spent the
weekend with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Merner.
Mrs. Marie Gelinas with
sister -in -saw Mrs. Catherine
Sweeney of Kitchener spent
from Wednesday to Saturday
in Detroit visiting with
relatives.
A reminder that Thursday
(tomorrow) October 29 is
the Torch -Bearers Paper
Drive and papers will be
picked up at the curb at.6: 30
(tied in bundles). They will
do so every last Thursday of,
the month.
Mrs. Gertie Flelschauer
entertained friends and
relatives at her home Satur-
day, October 24. The occa-
sion was to celebrate the
graduation of her daughter
Ruth Ann .Mills of London.
She has achieved her B.A. in
Sociology from Western
University.
Everyone is welcome to a
Parish bazaar on Sunday,
November 8 from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m. at St. Boniface School
gym. Also will be a craft
table, penny sale, fish pond,
bake sale, tea and hot dog
booth. Proceeds will go to
the missions.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rau,
RR 2, Zurich accompanied
by Juliette Denomme and
Florence Denomme spent a
few days this past week with
relatives in Kitchener.
Little Tanya Anne Masse,
daughter of Henrica and
Gerard Masse, RR 3 Zurich
was baptized on Sunday at
St. Boniface Church by Rev.
Fr. Paul Mooney with God-
parents being Lori and Phil
Masse.
Also Matthew Warren
Eagleson, son of Chris and
Gary was baptized recently
(October 11) at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Vera Schilbe of
Kitchener spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert
Schilbe and family.
John and Mary Consitt of
Midland visited this past
week with his mother, Mrs.
Eileen Consitt and other
members of the ,Consitt
family.
Several children are en-
joying taking tap and jazz
lessons from Michelle
Haberer at the arena on
Wednesdays.
Neighbours of Albert and
Pearl Kalbfleisch on Goshen
Street will miss them as last
Tuesday they moved over to
the apartments at the Rest
Home where they are now
living. Good luck to them!
Jerome Sweeney, Zurich
and Lennis Bedard of
Goderich were among those
who made a silent retreat in
Guelph over the weekend at
the Layola House.
Percy. and Luella Willert
have returned home by plane
after a month's holiday to
Alberta where they visited
with their two sons and
families being; Edgar and
Ruth Willert in Innisfaie and
Carl and Marg in Olds,
Alberta. (the latter couple
also celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary.)

Corriveau spent 10 days
visiting with relatives In
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
and Lake Orion.
