MIER MARTIN CREDITON Wednesday evening the Crediton Women's Lnstitute met in the town hall. The meeting was opened with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. President Mrs. Dave Cottel opened the business with a short poem. Roll call was answered by "type of discipline I have used suc- cessfully." After the business Mrs. Cottel turned the meeting over to Mrs. Peter Martin and Mrs. Don Finkbeiner. Mrs. Martin read the motto "Spare the rod and spoil the child." Mrs. Fink- beiner gave a reading. Guest speakers for the Thanksgiving for Kirkton By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS KIRKTON The Kirkton United Church Women held their October meeting in the church basement Wed- nesday. Mrs. Allan Eveleigh was in charge and opened the meeting with a Thanksgiving theme. Mrs. Norman Amos led in prayer. Mrs. Eveleigh read "What is your life, I followed by the scripture Ireading and 'Think of Thanksgiving 350 years ago.' , The bOok report was given by Mrs. Robert Ratcliffe she told of the two books she had which were written by Judy La Marsh. Myrtle Walkom, Munro was introduced and she spoke on prosperity and showed a film, "Guess who's corning for breakfast." She was thanked and presented with a gift. Mrs. George Burgin was in charge of the business which Included minutes of last meeting, roll call and correspondence. The fall bale will again be collected up to the first Sunday in December. Wednesday afternoon a successful auction sale was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. August Zegurs when both the house and fur- nishings were sold. A large crowd attended. The ladies of Grace Anglican Church are busy preparing for a bazaar and bake sale which will be held on October 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. A presentation is being held for Mike and Colleen (Breen) Wright at Corbett Community Centre, Friday, October 30. Ken and Luella Smithers were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Heamans, Mount Brydges.
