Thankoffering at Craig
by Alice Dickens
Aliso Craig
The Ailsa Craig U.C.W.
held their Fall Thank -
offering meeting at
Craigholme Nursing Home.
The evening began with
delightful toe -tapping music
provided by Otis Sawyer and
the Butters -in-law from
Kirkton with Mrs. Leroy
Walker at the piano.
Mrs. Jack Rosser opened
the worship service with a
short poem. They sang the
hymn "All hail the people
that on Earth do dwell".
Wilma McIntosh read the
scripture.
Mrs. Rosser gave a short
talk on "Seeing the rain-
bow". It was about life as a
Christian and how only in
Christ can we see the rain-
bow. "For the beauty of
earth" was sung and the
service closed with prayer.
The musical entertain-
ment resumed and we
travelled down memory lane
as we listened and also sang
along to some old-tyme
favourites:
Before the residents
retired an assortment of
square; were served to all.
The U.C.W. held a brief
business meeting in the
Board room.
A thankyou notewas read
from the Ethel Elliott group
of the Presbyterian Church.
Carlisle U.C.W. invite us to
their Thank -offering
meeting October 22.
Volunteers are needed to
help organize a party for the
moms and their pre -Sunday
school children. The pudding
committee request
volunteers to help make
and cook the puddings. A
motion was made to charge
53 for our two lbs. carrot
puddings. The orders are to
be in by November 21. We
are in need of one pound
coffee cans.
We are reminded of our
up -coming bazaar from 2-4
p.m., November 21.
The U.C.W. books close on
November 30, so any out-
standing bills should be in by
the November meeting. This
will be a work meeting in
connection with making
Christmas crafts for the
Bazaar.
