IRVIN RADER Calvary United Church Women held their meeting Tuesday, October 13 with the Christian Development group in charge and Mrs. Mildred Kellerman, chairlady. Harry Hoffman and Mrs. Everett Haist sang duets. A play, "Human Rights" was presented by Mrs. Syd Baker. Mrs. Eben Weigand, UCW meets at Kippen By MRS. RENA CALDWELL Kippen U.0 W. met Oc- tober 13 with 18 members. Mrs. Emerson Anderson conducted the Worship on the theme "Thanksgiving". Mrs. Hugh Hendrick took up the offering. Worship closed with thanksgiving prayer. Topic was given by Mrs. Gerald Moffatt which was a film of a family visiting in a nursing home at Christmas time. Mrs. Robert Kinsman opened the business with a Thanksgiving- poem. Roll call was answered by "What's New?" Treasurers report was given by Mrs. Bert Fber. Mrs. Keith Lovell gave the visiting report for the month. Mrs. Emerson Kyle and Mrs. Bert Faber are in charge of decorating the church for Anniversary. Mrs. David Cooper and Mrs. Emerson Kyle are the nominating committee. Next meeting is advanced to Monday November 2 on account of the supper November 11. Contact Mrs. Keith Lovell for the tickets for the supper. Mrs. David Cooper gave courtesy remarks. Meeting closed by singing "Smile". Mrs. Hugh Hendrick and Mrs. Wm Con- sitt served lunch. 4-H meet 4-H club Chic Chicken Chefs met at the home of Mrs. Al Hoggarth, September 29. A quiche was made and sampled, and parts of an egg were labell- ed. Roll call was "are the eggs packed in a carton with the large end or small end up. Personals John E. Caldwell holidayed in U.S.A. last week. Rochus Faber has gone to Florida for a holiday. Corn harvest is underway. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Rohde, newlyweds, to our village. Mrs. Greta Schade, and Mrs. Harold Carroll. It stressed the importance of keeping people of all color equal. Annual anniversary at Thames Road BY MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE A beautiful array of gold and yellow chrysanthemum, fruits and vegetables decorated the church Sunday for the fall anniversary. Mr. Lorne Thrower the minister was in charge of the service. The Snell family singers sang "Let the Rafters Ring, I Believe in Music, Pass It On, and Turn Your Radio On " which was very much en- joyed by everyone. Mr. Thrower told the children's story. The Scripture Lesson was read from Acts 26 verses 12-18. Mr. Thrower gave the message "Recipe of Life". He said if we follow in- structions from the Bible we should have an everlasting life. Maybe through experience we can go back to the recipe God has given us. Mrs. William Rohde visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross, London, Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde were supper guests Friday evening with Mrs. Marguerite Gibson, London. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cox, Toronto were Saturday evening supper guests and Mr. and Mrs. Elliott McRoberts, Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Duncan were visitors after supper with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Passmore. Von Ladies Aid The Ladies' Aid of Zion Lutheran church held the fowl supper for members and their husbands or a friend Tuesday, October 19. Following supper, the presi- dent, Mrs. Charles Martene conducted a short business meeting. The Altar Guild reported 17 visits. The new Guild is Mrs. Lloyd Rader and Mrs. Florence Keller. Group 1 will be in charge of the Lutheran Laymen's dinner November 1. Mrs. Dave Rader in- troduced the guest speaker, Rev. Barbara Laing, who showed her pictures of Israel which were very in- teresting and beautiful. She was thanked by Mrs. Martene and given a gift. Calvary anniversary Another year has come and gone. Calvary United church held its anniversary Sunday with Rev. Doug Cossar, chaplain of St. Joseph's and St. Mary's hospitals in London, guest speaker. This is the first time in history that a United Church minister has been appointed Chaplain in a catholic hospital. The even- ing service was a musical evening with Bob Heywood. The choir of Grand Bend United Church joined with the local choir at each ser- vice for special anniversary selections. There will be no service here next Sunday or Sunday School as they are invited to Zurich anniversary. Rev. Barbara Laing is starting a Bible study in the church Wednesday October 21 at. 7:30.
