Centennials lose toNairn
A very well played game
by the Exeter Senior Cen-
tennials soccer team didn't
finish in their favour as they
lost 2-1 to Nairn in the semi-
final round of the Ausable
League playoffs.
This finished the Cen-
tennials for the season who
now have to wait until next
May to resume play.

WINTER
FROST FREE
Exeter went to the attack
controlling a big part of the
first half. Exeter played
strong defensively and of-
fensively but the Nairn
defense prevented the
Exeter forwards in getting a
real good shot at the Nairn
goal.
Nairn scored the first goal
on a long shot that caught the
Exeter goalie out of position.
This didn't stop Exeter as
they went right to the attack.
Striker Paul Vandewalle
did a lot of hustling in front of
the net as he drew the goalie
out and got the ball to John
Muller who scored into the
empty net. The first half
ended with the teams tied at
one.
The second half was a
replicate of the first half in
terms of ball control. But
with about five minutes on a
head ball to put them ahead
to stay.
A rivalry has sort of been
started between these two
teams. They've played
against each other four
times this year with Nairn
winning two, tying one and
losing one.
After winning the game
against Centralia College,
Thursday night 3-1, Exeter
has only one game to play
involving the mini -
tournament with Lucan and
the College.
Exeter finished in first
place by virtue of winning all
their games and will
probably play Lucan unless
Centralia College wins by a
large enough margin over
Lucan, Tuesday night.
The final game being the
championship gt$tne is (.o be
played Thursday night at
6:30 in Huron Park.
