school news
By TAMMY NOYES
BONNIE LYNN
Tuesday, September 22,
the McGillivray cross-
country team went to
Strathroy to run. The cross
country course was very wet
and muddy, but that did not
stop Jeff Amos from
finishing third, Darcy
McLean, Fifth and Kim
Amos, ninth.
All runners should be
congratulated for finishing
the race in such wet con-
ditions. We would like to
thank our coach Mr. Hern for
spending his time to help us
improve our running ability.
The soccer teams have
been chosen and will be
participating in a tour-
nament at Parkhill -West
Williams on October 8. The
3' girls are being coached by
Mrs. Freer and the boys by
Mr. Brown.

Tuesday The Happy Gang
group and friends boarded a
McNaughton bus for Mon-
trose, Mich. A delicious noon
meal was served followed by
a musical program and
several games of euchre.
On the return trip the
seniors dined near Sarnia. A
sincere thank you goes to
Harold Guilfoyle for the
wort entailed for this en-
joyable trip.
Sunny skies prevailed on
Wednesday when fourteen
seniors enjoyed a trip to
Rock Glen, shopping at Van
Bree's fruit shed, tour of
Arkona, and a drive through
the colourful countryside.
Again we enjoyed another
outouting, thanks to Lloyd
Roth.
Riverview Women's
Institute met on September 7
at the Masonic hall, Ailsa
Craig. We were fortunate
indeed in having Ralph
Robinson come to the
meeting to talk about Egypt,
showing slides and giving an
excellent description of what
each slide was about and how
it related to their way of
living both in cities and in
• rural areas, especially
around the Nile river.
Ralph certainly didn't
miss any important details
about his work or travels in
Egypt. He mentioned what a
lovely city Alexandria is in
contrast with Cairo which is
so hot in the summer. Mrs.
Leona Hughes thanked
Ralph. The president, Mrs.
Rosser, added her thanks.
Roll Call was answered by
naming a Provincial or
Federal cabinet minister
and his position. Secretary's
report and treasurer's report
were given followed by the
scripture psalm 43 read by
Mrs. Mary Rees.
An interesting paper on
World Affairs, noting in
particular farm unions was
given by Mrs. Leona Hughes.
"What we make of our
homes is more important
than what our homes are
made of" was ably taken by
Mrs. Roland Neil.
During the business plans
made to attend a meeting at
Beechwood Institute the
following evening. The
meeting closed with 0
Canada and the Institute
Grace. Mrs. Gordon
McNaughton and committee
served a tasty lunch.
Several families from the
United Church attended
Brinsley anniversary ser-
vice on Sunday. Rev. John
Davis of Stratford was the
guest speaker and Mr. Peter
Snell supplied special music.
Mr" and Mrs. Gordon
Sutherland and Mr. and Mrs.
Owen Bice attended the 40th
wedding anniversary of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Burnie at the
home of their son, Dan and
Shirley Burnie of Charing
Crass.
Mrs. Wm. Leitch visited
last Saturday with Miss Jean
Stewart, Mt. Brydges.
