The first lesson was read
by , Mrs. Larry Greenlee,
Mrs. Wayne Carroll was

The church was tastefully
decorated with fruit,
vegetables and flowers. Two
baskets of flowers from the
funeral of the late Mrs.
Bilyea, Granton were placed
in the chancel.
Holy Communion was
administered to all present
with a blessing for the
children, a new Bible was
dedicated in loving memory
of the late Mrs. Ada Carroll
Ings.

Michael Davis were dinner
guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Davis.

The Crediton firemen,
Stephen Area 2 were hosts to
the monthly Mutual Aid
meeting September 21.
Volunteer firefighters at-
tended from; Blyth,
Brussels, Brucefield,
Clinton, Centralia, Dash-
wood, Ethel, Exeter,
Goderich, Huron Park,
Hensall, Kippen and
Wingham.
Special speakers for the
evening were; Area Service
Advisor, Jerry Sunstrum,
who spoke on safe in-
stallation of stoves,
fireplaces and chimneys and
the proper methods of ex-
tinguishing fires from them.
Stephen township building
inspector, Arnold McCann
commented on the building
codes and the importance of
strict adherence to them.
John Consitt spoke on
behalf of Hay Mutual Fire
Insurance. Also representing
Hay Mutual was Steve
Pertschy.
A brief question period
followed each speaker.
A hearty lunch was served.

Rev. Armin Schlenker his
returned home from South
Huron Hospital.
Many area parents of the
grade 8 students at Stephen
Central attended parents
night at Camp Sylvan
Tuesday evening. Skits,
games and a corn roast were
enjoyed by those attending.
I'm sure that it was an en-
joyable evening.
I toured the roads looking
for a sign unknowingly
passing by the gate several
times. Apparently the sign
had found its way into a
nearby corn field making it
difficult for a stranger to the
area.

The top winner in pigeons
was Doug Cooper while
Donald Dearing emerged as
the top turkey exhibitor.
Knudsen and Dennis of
Petrolia were winners in
rabbits and ducks and geese.
In the poultry division
Cliff Pepper wasthe major
winner in standard birds and
George Tiernan took the
most prizes in the bantams
section.
The overall vegetable
winner was Mrs. Harold
Cudmore and John Kingma
won the commercial
vegetable feature.
in heavy horses Bob Tin-
dall was the winner with
Meadow Pony Stables tak-
ing the most awards in light
horses. Arnold Young was
the winner in the heavy hitch
men's and women's driving
classes.
Donald Dearing showed
the champion Dorset sheep
ewe while Darren Faber had
the best ram. In Suffolk
breed the procedure was
reversed with Dearing show-
ing the champion ram and
Faber the ewe.
Louis Emke took top
honours in Oxford Downs
and any other varieties.
In the market barrow hog
class the winner was Gerald
Dearing followed by Peter
Dearing. Tom Hern Jr.,
Hugh Rundle. Alan Benning,
Tom Triebner. Bill Renning,
Bob Down, Denise Benning
and Murray Rundle.
Bob Down was the winner
