Staffa. Guest speaker Gwyn Whilsmith had good news - God loves us even when we fail. We all strive for success. for ourselves and for our children, but don't always succeed. By human standards Jesus was a failure. "a misguided zealot who had overstepped the mark and deserved death." Terry Fox had to give up his dream. Was he a failure? God uses the bad times to correct, teach, humble and make us more com- passionate. Mrs. De Jonge, wife of Rev. Bernard De Jonge, minister of Exeter Christian Reformed Church. was very pleased with the initial response to Ladies' Com- munity Fellowship. "Seeing so many ladies shows an obvious interest in this community for getting together for fellowship and socializing," she said. Ladies' Community Fellowship will meet the third Thursday evening of each month of 7:45 in the up- per room of the old town hall. • ERIOR FOOD AR Boss. I sure didn't ap- preciate being taken from my nice dry stable this mor- ning and hustled into that drafty trailer. . You don't drive a truck any better tharl you drive me. You were in such a hurry to get to that thing you call the "fair" that you seemed to forget the precious cargo you were towing. But. I guess it was better than last year when you made me walk all the way. You were so worried we'd miss the parade you hardly gave me a chance to have a bite of hay while you brush- ed me down at the fairgrounds. You take the cake this time, boss And the parade. Boring! You made me walk with all those inferior -looking horses, You know, you have no sense of humour. I wasn't really going to run over that bunch of people I was just trying to liven things up. Then we entered the "show". I know the procedure by heart. Walk, trot, canter round and round in a circle - reverse, walk, trot, canter - line up. I knew how you wanted me to stand, boss, but I just wasn't in the mood to stretch today. You didn't have to get mad when I backed up into the judge. It was your idea that I should back up. What was he judging anyway - my posterior? Before I knew it we were running in circles again to some crazy music. Everytime the music onto an empty sack. Next you had me racing in a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels. That can be confusing, you know. Then By Elaine Townshend stopped, you'd kick me in the ribs and I'd run like mad. Then all of a sudden you'd almost jerk my head off, and when I stopped, you'd flop you had me gallop past a barrel; you'd grab a flag on a pole from the barrel; then we'd race back and you'd try to throw the flag back into CLIP AND SAVE Why wait for those special sales that only happen Now, Gerrard's will help yot save money I I 1 1 1 INTRODUCING CALENDAR 1 Wednesday Thursday Friday F Sept. 23 Men's & Boys Fall WINDBREAKERS Jean Style JACKETS 0 30% F Ladies & Girls BALL JACKETS & COATS 1/3 to 1/2 PRICE Sept. 24 Men's& Boys VELOURS & SWEATERS 25%° F LADIES & GIRLS SHIRTS 0 I• 25% F Sept. 25 Men's & Boys BLAZERS & DRESS PANTS Ladies BLAZERS & DRESS SLIMS 25%0FF Girl's WIRER COATS & JACKETS 20% OFF the barrel. You've got lousy aim, boss. You've got a lot of nerve, too. Not only did you expect me to carry you around, but you made me race down the . length of a field, let some other guy jump on my back and carry both of you back. Not only were the twa of you heavy, but you made enough noise to give any sensitive horse a headache. I'm tired, boss. Let's call it quits. No? Now what have you got in mind? You've done some silty things in your time, boss, but this takes the cake. You don't really think you can carry that egg on that spoon while I run from one end of the field to the other,, do you? Yea, 1 think walking is a better idea. Here goes. I hope it's hard-boiled. Oh. boss. All over my mane' You'd better get me cleaned up fast. This is em- barrassing. Good. You're taking the saddle off. We're going home at last. It's the smartest decision you've made alt day. Wait a minute. What's this. You've jumped on bareback. You know you're not very good at riding bareback.
