Women's education program
again offered at Clinton site
The successful and
popular Women's
Educational Program of
Conestoga College begin3its
fifth year of operation this
fall. This program strives to
explore and analyse the
changing concerns and
responsibilities of women in
today's rapidly -changing
world. '
Three courses offered
through the program this fall
will be available at the
Clinton campus, located on
Vanastra Road.
The first course is entitled
Women and Money and
begins at 7 p.m. on Wed-
nesday, September 23. In
this course, women will have
the opportunity to become
conversant with current
economic concerns, such as
inflation and bank rates, that
affect their lives. Class
discussion will focus on
topics such as banking,
budgeting, saving, investing
and retirement plans. The
fee for this eight-week
course is $30.
Louise Marritt, herself a
farm widow, will lead the
course For Widows Only,
beginning Thursday,
October 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Participants in this
discussion -centered course
will explore and deal with
the difficulties and
challenges widows face.
Topics will include handling
grief and loneliness, being a

planning. The fee is $15 for
five sessions.
Monday, October 19 is the
starting date for the third
course, Assertiveness For
Women. The purpose of this
six-week course is to allow
participants to master
assertiveness techniques by
means of classroom
demonstrations and role
playing. These techniques
can then be applied to
overcoming problems which
stem from feelings of
helplessness, fear or
dissatisfaction. Sessions
begin at 7 p.m., and the fee is
$27.
Participants who complete
courses in the Women's
Education Program may
request a Statement of
Participation from
Conestoga College. For those
participants who may
require financial
assistance, a small bursary
fund is available.
Early registration is
asvisable for all Women's
Education Program courses,
because class sizes are
limited. Applicants may
register by contacting Edith

Seniors enjoy
outing to track
Exeter Senior Citizens
opened their fall season with
a pot luick supper September
1. In spite of inclement
weather, 37 partook of a
delicious meal.
Leila Finkbeiner thanked
all for sick cards received in
hospital. Lorne Brock spoke
on "Vial of Life" program
which will bestartedearly in
October.
Mrs. Irene Davis brought
the report of the provincial
convention in Kingston in
August. Arrangements
were completed for a Bus
trip to Mohawk Raceway.
Hubert Cooper delighted
members with his slides on
places he visited in Canadian
West, also some on some
prior Lions' bus. trips.

Sorority chapter commences fall activities
Alpha Pi ;Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi 'have once again
started their regular
meetings after again had a
busy summer.
A car wash in June, a
pie saleat the Sidewalk Sale

4-H elect
The firs* meeting of
Hurondale 5 was held at the
house of Helen Coates.
Members first picked of-
ficers, president- Brenda
Thompson; vice-president;
Mary Lou Rundle;
secretary- Chris Coates;
treasurer- Jodi. McBride and
press reporter'- Darlene
McBride.
Then we did the roll call
which asked us to think of
different ways we could use
a chicken in different dishes.
We then went through the
first meeting and filled in
different answers about
chickens.
The leaders demonstrated
the way to cut up a chicken,
then the members proceeded
to cut up a chicken them-
selves.
We discussed our home
activities and Brenda
Thompson adjourn - d the
meeting. '
Days in July, and a refresh-
ment booth at the men's
fastball tournament in
August raised enough money
to complete the current
service project that being a
new piece of playground
equipment for Riverview
ALPHA P1 -- Past president Janice Brock of the Alpha Pi
sorority lights the candle which starts each meeting as presi-
dent Susan Moor& watches. The theme of the group for this
year is "Circle the world with yellow 'roses." The 14 -member
group is responsible for new equipment which has just been
added to the Pork.

been purchased, assembled
by the towns works depart-
ment and placed in the park.
The Chapter feels the
benefits from this project
make all the work wor-
thwhile.
A family pool party and
. barbeque organized by the
social committee was held in
early August at the home of
Joan Westerhout. After
anenjoyable afternoon swim,
a delicious supper of ham -
burgs, hotdogs and corn -on -
the -cob was enjoyed by all. A
scavenger hunt for the
children and more swim-
ming rounded out a fun day.
Saturday August 29, a
Beginning Day Luncheon to
start off the new year, was
held at the home of Susan
Moore. Three prospective
new members were guests.
After a delicious lunch of
lasagna, tossed salad and
parfait for dessert, a short
business meeting was held
and yearbooks for the
coming year were handed
out to all members.
The first regular meeting
if the new year was held
September 1st at the home of
Sharon McNeilly. The
program, Physical and
Social Environment, was
presented by Janice Brock
and Ann Lorento. Alvin Pym
showed some interesting
slides of Iceland and the
Orient. A few items of
business were discussed and
lunch was served by Barb
Passmore and Sharon
McNeilly.

Cheryl Chapman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Chapman,
and Murray Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart,
Kirkton, were united in marriage at Exeter United Church,
August 15th with Rev. James Forsythe officiating. Bride's
attendants were maid of honour Susan Chapman, Exeter;
Cheryl Stewart, Kirkton; Kelly Gaiser, Toronto and the flower
girl was Amy Leah Potter, Thunder Bay. The best man was
Mike Bondy, Waterloo. Guests were ushered by Craig Alex-
ander, Hensall; Paul Chapman, Exeter and Garry Rasberry,
Peterborough. Following a trip to the Dominican Republic, the
