Mrs. Elda Koehler has returned home after spen- ding some time in Oshawa with Mr. and Mrs. Spike Nagel. Susan and Chris Baynham. Heather Elizabeth, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Hogarth was baptized in Zion Lutheran church by Rev. M. Mellecke. Sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Baynham. Exeter, and Eleanor Salmon. Mrs. Mervyn Tieman, delegate and Mrs. Ross Love attended the 23rd annual convention of the U.S.C.O. at Queen's University. Kingston, August 10-12. Bridal showers at Clandeboye Several bridal showers have been held in honour of Dianne Lynn whose marriage to Ed Twynstra takes place September 5. Phyllis Tomes of Centralia assisted by Mary Sawyer. Wyoming held a Tomes family shower. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family were hosts for a Lynn- Twynstra family dinner and shower. Marilyn Groenewegen and Debbie Lynn. who are bridal attendants, were hostesses for a group of friends, held at Marilyn's home. The Clandeboye community shower was held at the United Church, August 4. Mrs. Brian Twynstra, RR 3, Denfield. is hosting a Twynstra family shower on Wednesday evening of this week. The Clandeboye U.C.W. assisted the Lucan U.C.W. at the food and rest centre dur- ing the Lucan Fair. The sympathy of the com- mnity is extended to the family of the late Doug Carter who• passed away Sunday. The funeral is from Haskett funeral home on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Thom, Ottawa. accompanied by Mrs. Thom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark of Ayr, Scotland and Chas Thom, St. Catharines were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lynn and family. Dorothy Joyce and her friend Alice Root, Windsor, dropped in for a short visit with Hazel and Rupert Williams enroute to the Wiarton area for a holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Groenewegen attended the Vanderpryt-Pepper wedding in St. Frances church, Tilbury Saturday and spent the weekend with relatives in the area. Mr and Mrs. Ed Gackstetter. Exeter visited Friday afternoon with Mrs. Violet Allison and Kathleen Morley. The funeral of Ed Dundas was held Friday from the Haskett and Son Funeral Home. Lucan. He was formerly from McGillivray township. Mrs George Prest un- derwent foot surgery last week and is now con- valescing at her home. T -A photo 1 Honourable Frank Drea Minister of Community and Social Services told the group with a better un- derstanding of their needs the government will listen to their wishes. Dr. George Merry of St. Marys told the group "You are only as old as your mind is young". Members of the Dashwood and Area Medical com- mittee are plaesed and grateful to all donations from groups raising money for this project. The latest donation came from the Gossman fancily reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman recently attended the gift show in Toronto. This month. Dashwood and Zurich L' t' W. are tak- ing advantage of the summer to hold out door church services. Zurich held their service :August 16 to which the Dashwood U.C.W. was invited. August 23 the Sunday service by Calvary U.C.W. will be held at the pavilion at 10:30 a.m. Zurich and anyone wishing to attend are welcome. Ken and Luella Smithers visited in Exeter with Mrs. Susan Link and Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Frances. They visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Malletts of London at their cottage at Port Franks. Cecil and Ellen Smithers visited relatives at Bran- don. Manitoba recently. Best wishes to Joe and Joanne Eagleson ( nee Smth) who were married on Mon- day at Grand Bend and Doug and Cathy Walper (nee Harnden) who were married on Saturday at Byron. Benoit Pontbriande of Monteal is spending a week with friends in this area. Bill and Ruth Scott of Blenheim were dinner guests of Harvey and Shirley Eagleson on Saturday. Gary and Chris Eagleson of Zurich are the proud parents of a baby boy. He was born on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Congratulations! By MRS.
