Celebrate holidays
Playground program completed
By Marg Pym and Patti Down
The Exeter Lions'
Playground ended last week
with shared laughter. ex-
perience and fun. Each day
last week was a holiday so
everyone who attended both
the senior and junior parks
participated in New Years,
Monday: Valentine's Day,
Tuesday: Easter. Wednes-
day: Thursday brought
Hallowe'en and Friday was
celebrated as Christmas.
Each day both parks did
activities. games. songs and
crafts that went with each
holiday. On Monday for New
Years'. party hats and
resolutions were made and
Tuesday brought the sharing
of Valentines among
students and staff.
The Easter bunny visited
both playgrounds Wednes-
day leaving behind
jellybeans for everyone
after everyone decided what
Easter was realty about.
Thursday's wind blew in
the wild wicked witch from
the' east (near Elimville).
Esmerelda delighted
everyone and even scared
some children with her story
and spells. Everyone who
joined in the Hallowe'en par-
ty came in costume and
prizes were awarded to the
best.
The Christmas party on
Friday drew alot of children
who came to see Santa Claus
and they were not disap-
pointed. Santa came to give
out treats after the Christ-
mas tree had been decorated
and the plays "The Night
Before Christmas" were put
on. After Santa gave out his
treats the children exchang-
ed Christmas presents and
the theme of the whole
summer "sharing" was ex-
perienced by all.
This past Monday the
playground took their end
trip to London's Regional
Children's Museum. The
afternoon visit was rewar-
ding and educational as the
children saw a play about
"sharing" and participated
in activities on Inuit and
Japan. Special thanks to
Mrs. Forrest, Mrs.
Truemner and Mrs.
Latulippe for going with the
playground to help super-
vise.
It's been a great summer.
A valuable experience of
sharing, laughter, songs and
games. Thank yous are ex-
tended to all the playground
participants. parents, the
Rec centre staff, Boom
Gravett the pool staff (for
letting us swim), the
businesses who donated
supplies and prizes for the
penny carnival, the LITS
who worked very hard with
low wages because without
.all of you the playground
could not have happened.
Special thanks to the
rents of the playground
Oaff for letting us borrow so
many things and the Lions
club for sponsoring us. Till
next year remember. "Let's
share".
