with Wonderland trip
By Lynne Farquhar
Stephen Township's
playgrounds ended last week
with the big trip to
"Canada's Wonderland".
Other than some 401 con-
struction which delayed our
arrival at Wonderland and
three young misses who,
went amiss and delayed our
departure, it was a good day.
I'd like to take this oppor-
tunityto thank Les, Anne
Marie and Sheila from
S.P.A.R.K. and Donna, Nan-
cy and Barb from the
Dashwood Playground for a
job well done. Thanks also to
Susan Vanderspek from Ex-
eter who volunteered her
services to help eut the
S.P.A.R.K. leaders for the
summer.
Another big thank you
goes out to the Optimists
Club of Stephen who
generously donated $200 to
help pay for the bus for
Wonderland.

The Kirkton club downed
Oakridge by scores of 10-7
and 13-3 to qualify for the

Kirkton were Cheryl Cann,

Monday, Kirkton got their
bats rolling early in the
game with three hits in the
first inning to score three
runs.
Marnie Wraith and Patti
Willis hit back to back home
runs to leave the left fielder
near the fence.
Kirkton's 15 hit attack was
led by Patti Willis with two
home runs and a single.
Marie Wraith added a home
run, triple and double, while
Lori Brand hit a triple,
double and single.
Laurie Simpson hit two
singles while Barb Skinner,
Sandra Fletcher, Cheryl
Cann and Cindy Down added
singles.. Barb Skinner
allowed only 2 hits in the
seven inning game while
giving up 3 walks.
girls certainly have nothing
to be ashamed' of as it was
only their second loss of the
season and they've played
fine ball games all summer.
Congratulations to coach
Jan Russell and the girls.
The Huron Park pee wee

past weekend due to rain and
the tourney will be held at a

Stephen township pool is
in the midst of its final ses-
sion for the summer.
Hopefully the weatherman
will be a little more co-
operative through the last
week and a half of lessons
and give us a little sunshine
and some warm
temperatures.
See you at the pool!!

winner taking on Nanticoke
in the next round.
Also this week Clarksburg
and Collingwood are playing
off with the winner going
against Kincardine. The
other quarter final playoff
series has Bownmanville
pitted against Pembroke.
The Tigers have had little
trouble with Thorndale in
regular Great Lakes league
action and should be
favorites to advance to the
semi-finals against either
Courtright, Dresden or Nan-
ticoke.
