Barbara, Joanne, Lisa and Viola Carter spent Monday afternoon in Saguenay, Michigan, returning via Frankenmuth, where they enjoyed dinner at the famous Bavarian Inn. Frank and Betty Gabrieau of Belle River are visiting for a few days with their son, Larry and daughter-in-law, Pat and little grandson, Paul. The Gabrieau's have just recently moved to our village, purchasing the large white home at the north end of Clandeboye. We welcome them to our community. Congratulations to Harold and Velma Hardy on the avrrival of their grandson Ryan Kenneth Rees on Tuesday, August 4. Ctandeboye Harold Hardy had a most enjoyable holiday. Wednes- day until Sunday, as he rode with the Chesley saddle club. The ride started at Alvanby, near Owen Sound, staying close to the water. the pic- turesque route took them through Keppel nad Sarawak townships, a distance of ap- proximately 100 miles. They completed their ride each day at 3 p.m. with plen- ty of time for a swim before supper and giving the horses a good rest. A large tent was erected at night for the riders to sleep in. Meals were provid- ed by a couple who travelled by motor home. Among the riders was a covered wagon and a horse and buggy. Thirty eight riders started the ride but ten dropped out along the way. Gerry and Elaine Noyes, Tammy and Terry, drove to Goshen, New York, last week where they toured the Harness Horse Hall of Fame, to see the portrait of their uncle, Clint Hodgins. Enroute home they stopped in Niagara Falls to enjoy the many places of interest there. Congratulations! to Josie and David Hill on the arrival of their son, Jordan Lee, on Tuesday, July 28, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Lewis and Elnora Raycraft attended the Highland Games at Dutton on Monday. Clandeboye United Church Women catered for the Wydeven - Moir wedding dinner at the Lucan Com- munity Centre on Saturday. Pastor Ross and Mrs. Hargreaves, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jeffrey, Mr. Dale Passmore, Mr. and Mrs. David Passmore, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rohde, Danny and Tammy, Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Simpson were guests at the Rohde - Doell wedding at Emmanuel United Church Sebringville and the reception and dance at Kirkton-Woodham Com- munity Centre on Saturday afternoon and evening. Mrs. Glenn Rohde was a bridesmaid. Group U. of the' United Church Women had the meal and Group C had the lunch after the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dawson spent a few days recently at their cottage on Lake Timiskaming. Quite a number of people from this community attend- ed the decoration service at Roy's cemetery on Sunday. Among some of those were Miss Mary Gardiner of Lon- don and Mrs. Edith Gardiner of Strathroy and then they were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde attended a family pic- nic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rohde of Mitchell. Staff .hoto POPULATION BOOM - – On September 29, 1910, Dashwood's population jumped by three, with the arrival of three babies, Rudy Vincent, Harry Hoffman and Grace Guenther Five grandchildren of Mr. Hoffman honored the occasion in the Friedsburg parade. Driver of the entry was Robbie Hoffman, while beside him is the stork who worked overtime, Randy Hoffman. Riding in the back and holding signs naming the three babies are Tim, Teddy and Terry Hoffman. The entry was sponsored by Hoffman's Ambulance and placed second in the novelty class. It was a very gorgerus affair and we werre indeed a privileged generation to be able to watch it live on T.V. in living colour. How lucky we are! On Sunday Rev. Stanley Desjardine spoke to us about his work in Tanzania and some of the problems he has been able to overcome. We were pleased that he took the time to speak to us. Doug Walper attended his University of Guelph Class Reunion at Vineland on the week -end. He was ac- companied by Larry Carlow, Mark McDougal and Ron Marshall. Guests on the week -end of Ken and Ruthanne Eagleson were Andrew and Darlene Alex and family of Toronto. Doris Eagleson ac- companied the Kirkton Horticultural Society on a bus trip to Casa Loma and Eaton Centre in Toronto recently. A number of young people attended the Ozzy Osbourne Concert at The Gardens in London. Joan and Judy Lagerwerf are on a two week trip to California. Bill Johnson, Dan Lagerwerf and Ron Steeper attended the wedding of a former school friend, Phil McDonald, at Timmins on Saturday.
