Centennials get tie
despite short staff
Saturday afternoon in
Lucan, Exeter Centennials
only nine men out of the
normal 11 on the playing
field managed to gain a 2-2
tie with Lucan.
Exeter opened the scoring
with perhaps the fastest goal
off the opening whistle by
scoring 15 seconds into the
game.
The Lucan centre had
relayed the ball back to his
centre half who misplayed it.
As a result Centennial for-
ward John Muller rushed in
to pick up the ball and
pushed towards the net
where he sent the ball
through the legs of the Lucan
goalie.
Although shorthanded
Exeter had most of the play
in the first half. Before the
half ended Lucan managed
to score a goal to end the half
.sl a 1-1 score.
Shortly into the second half
Brad Clausius scored from
within a goal mouth
scramble to up the score to 2-
1 for Exeter. As the second
half went on Lucan steadily
gained more control and
pressing hard on the Exeter
goal. It paid off for Lucan as
they scored to tie(the game
at 2 apiece.
Although shp handed
Exeter played a stro game
with Dave Holmes t goal
and supported on defen a by
Bill White, Joe Laurie, John
Rasenberg. Dick Lord and
Mike Janyu.
Forwards Shawn Ry'
teau, Brad Clausius and
John Muller played a strong
game offensively.
Special thanks to former
