WILLIAM ROHDE About 350 people attended the historical drama "This Is Your Church, My Friend". Friday evening in Thames Road Church. A historical introduction was given by Ross Hodgert and Mrs. Floyd Stewart. Ex- cerpt from a church service of the 1860's Dr. Gracey - Mr. Arnold Cann and Praesenter Ray Cann. The choir sang Unto The Hills unaccompanied. An Elders meeting of Yesteryear with a number of people taking part took place. An early Women's Missionary Society meeting was portrayed with eight ladies taking part. A vocal duet was sung by Miss Doris Elford and Mrs. Donald Bray which was much en- joyed. A boy's dialogue was presented with Paul Stewart. Scott Hodgert and Brent Dawson taking part and congregational meeting for re -building the new church with Gerry Morgan, Jack Stewart, Don Richard- son and Lloyd Ballantyne. A musical selection of Old Time Music was given by Ray Cann and Bill Rohde on violins. Bob Jeffe on the banjo and Harry Je fery on the guitar accompanied by Mrs. Reg Hodgert which were much enjoyed. Glancing back at a managers meeting with Mr. Montieth being played by Lorne Ballantyne, Mr. Gar- diner with Barry E. Miller taking his part, Mr. Hackney played by Jack Hodgert, Mr. Thomson by Rick Parker. A vocal quartet was much enjoyed with Messrs Ray Cann. Murray Dawson and Bob and Harry Jeffery tak- ing part accompanied b Mrs. Reg Hodgert. A trip down Memory' Lane with Dr. and Mrs. Fletcher portrayed by John Pym and Mrs. Lee Webber. A stree meeting with Mr. Stewart played by Bob Stone. M . Jeffery played by Barry Jeffery and Mr. Selves by Jack Borland. A musical interlude with the Rowe brothers which was much enjoyed, with Ross at the piano, Wayne with the violin. Bill and Den- nis with guitars. Historical tributes were given by Mrs. Gordon McCarter„ Mrs. Jack Hodgert. Mrs. Wayne Rowe, Mrs. David Passmore. Mrs. Paul Passmore and Mrs. Larry Ballantyne. Introduction to some Ar- tifacts was given by Pastor Ross Hargreaves, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sharp and Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne. A presentation of V.I.P.'s of the manse was given. The choir closed the drama with the singing of "This Was The Church." The welcoming committee, the choir and those in the congregation taking part in the drama were all attired in centennial costume. After the service everyone retired to the basement where a smorgasbord lunch was partaken of. In the base- ment pictures, maps, a quilt, shawl. and lamp were dis- played. Barbecue and dance About 500 people attended the pork barbecue and dance at the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre Saturday evening. Church service Thames Road Centennial Church service- was held on Sunday morning with about 500 people in attendance. Miss Agnes Bray played the organ and Mr. Koss Rowe dicatlon was given by Rev. played the piano before the service commenced, for the hymns. and while the offer- ing was received. Pastor Ross Hargreaves was in charge of the service and spoke words of welcome. Hobert Bray read the Psalm. Rev. Barry Passmore led in prayer. The choir under the leadership of Mr. Rick Parker sang He, and Ten Thousand Years. Mrs. Jean Mair read the Scripture Lesson Second Timothy 4, verses 6-8, 16-18. Rev. Barry Passmore had as his sermon "Looking Back". He asked how do we look back? Gratitude for family, past experiences and memories both happy and sad. St. Paul looked forward, What do we have to look forward to? The following people were asked to stand: The Kydd descendents whose grand- father helped build the church, Mrs. Mair and fami- ly. Rev. Stewart 'and Mrs. Miner and family. Rev. Hugh and Mrs. Wilson, Rev. Stewart Miner spoke on behalf of the ministers. Greetings and the $ NIAGRA BRAND-;..4 Ben- Hugh Wilson. Three Fold Amen was sung by the choir to bring a very inspiring church service to a close. The Skinner family held a surprise get-together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Coward in honor of their 15th wedding anniversary, Sun- day Mr and Mrs. Cleve Brophey. Chatham spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dawson. Mr Harold Annett, the Caswell family, London, the Brazier family, Brantford, and the deMooy family of London spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Passmore.
