junior playground
The second week at the
junior playground was both
exciting and enjoyable. The
members were quite
enthusiastic and therefore
made the program more
successful. I'm sure many of
the members learned many
things about last week's
theme. Sports.
Good sportsmanship was
one area of sports that was
stressed last week and most
members did show good
sportsmanship.
Plenty of games and other
sports were enjoyed on the
playground as well as crafts,
songs and stories.
Tuesday featured a Peanut
Hunt. that was a nutty good
time. Tuesday the members
also made caterpillars in
crafts.
Sand castle building, a
frog race and the making of
Scary Harry's were three
highlights of Wednesday.
Thursday the members
also enjoyed an exciting
program. A rabbit race and
tie dyeing, were two ac-
tivities of the day. Thursday
finished up with a freshie
party.
Friday was Olympic Day.
As was said above, the
members enjoyed all sorts
of track and field events
while competing against
other countries.
The members enjoyed
themselves and had good fun
and overall made sports
week a success.
The theme of this present
week at the Exeter Lions
junior playground is hillbilly
week. This down country
theme is aimed at having
a lot of fun besides learning
about their country
neighbours and the
difference between cows and
steers.
Highlights of the week in-
clude swimming in the
wading pool, farm animal
visits. a magic show on
Thursday and Friday's
special event in the form of a
hayride and farm visit and
with tasty homemade ice
cream to eat.
So come out old and new
for a fun filled week at
either the Rec Centre or Vic-
toria park from 9:30 a.m. to
4:00 p.m.

CREDITON
The Crediton Parks Board
held a very successful even-
ing on Saturday night. The
Crediton Cowgirls were
defeated by the CFPL
Superstars. It was rumoured
to be the first win for the
Superstars this season. The
Cowgirls went extra easy on
the Viperstars due to their
lack of victories.
After the ballgame, many
stayed to dance to the music
of Spirit. in the pavilion.
The proceeds from the dance
go to help maintain the ball
diamond and the lights in the
park. All the teams should
be gratefull that the parks
board is able to operate the
grounds without having to
raise the price for the use of
the lights etc. by each team.
Water hockey
The Crediton firemen
placed second in the water
hockey tournament at the
Ailsa Craig Gala Days. The
team competed against
Ilderton, Ailsa Craig, and
Parkhill winning 5 out of 7
rounds. Parkhill took first
again. Those competing for
Crediton were: Robert
Pertschy. .Jim Finkbeiner,
Doug Lightfoot. and Charlie
Browning Jr.
Mrs. Erma Krueger and
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Crawford,
Kim and Scott attended the
Central Music Competition
Saturday and Sunday at the
Valhallan Inn, Kitchener,
Scott. Erma's grandson wan
the Adjudicators Award in
his class for guitar solos.

also won the Adjudicators
Award in his class. Scott and
Robbie. received second
place in their guitar duet.
Their teacher, Paul Stephen-
son. won an award for hav-
ing the highest scoring

Homecoming celebration at
Zion United Church, Sunday
of this week.

smorgasbord style in the
township hall across the
street from the church at 12
noon.

history notes on the church
