Jean Gibson of the Grand Bend rec committee says she is very disappointed that the workshlp, which was scheduled to take place Mon- day through Friday at Lambton Heritage Museum, did not materialize. Mrs. Gibson had arranged the workshop, which was to be taught by Florida artist Betti Paull. Mrs. Paull has for a long time wanted to visit Canada, and offered to teach the classes to help finance her trip. Mrs. Gib- son said that 12 students were needed to make the class worthwhile, and they did not have that many peo- ple sign Ltp. Mrs. Gibgpn said that because all the arrangements had been made, Mrs. Paull is visiting her as planned. Mrs. Paull is going to speak to members of the local art club In Grand Bend Wednesday evening (tonight) at Mrs. Gibson's home. Anyone else who is in- terested may attend. Mrs. Gibson is asking people to call her at 238-2202. Although Mrs. Gibson is very disappointed at the cancellation of the painter's workshop, she is going ahead with plans for night school classes in Grand Bend this fall. The classes are set up by the rec committee, under the direction of Lambton College. Mrs. Gibson said that there will be a stained glass course, taught by Wolfgang Suppan of the Old Schoolhouse near Dashwood, a bridge class, which Mrs. Gibson herself will teach, an art appreciation course with lectures and slides, directed LOCAL ARTISTS ON DISPLAY — Members of the Grand Bend Art Club have put some of their works on display at the Grand Bend Library, located in the public school. Summer library club For children 8 to 12 years of age. the club began .July 2 and will continue for eight more weeks. A different theme is featured each week. with crafts. games, puppets. songs and films. This program is funded by a Summer Youth employ- ment grant'. Mr. and Mrs. John Burgess. and Laurie Ward from Dearborn, Michigan The B C. relatives have been in Ontario since June 20. and they. accompanied by Ken w a rd and son Roger, have returned from a two week trip to Gaspe. Quebec. Other relatives with the Wards have been visiting Irene's father. Floyd Enright who is ill in St. ,Joseph's hospital. London. Mrs Susie Devine was a dinner guest recently at her son's home. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Devine. Funeral service was held for Colin Love. last Tuesday at 2 p.m.. from the T; Harry Hoffman Funeral home. Rev H. Moore officiated with interment at Grand Bend cemetery. Pallbearers were his three sons Morley, of Ottawa, Glenn. of Bright's Grove, and Gerry. of Stephen township. and three grand- sons Brian Love. Ottawa, Dan and Dick Love. Sarnia. Flower bearers were grandchildren and great grandchildren, Heather, Paul. Brent, Michelle, Christina and Charmaine Love. Sympathy is extended to relatives here. of the late Edward Devine. Funeral service was held Saturday. at 2:00 p.m. for Mr. Devine from the T. Harry Hoffman Funeral Home, Dashwood, with Rev. Harley Moore of- ficiating and interment at Grand Bend cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Grigg. Walter Tiedeman, Jim and Bob McReight, John Manore and Mac MacLaren. Clarke Kennedy spent the weekend in Lindsay and attended a family picnic. Danny Desjardine, on holi- day in Canada from Tanzania. visited last week with his aunt and uncle and, cousins Millie and Morley Desjardine and sons, and attended vacation church school at Church of God. Alex and Cathy Love, of Toronto: have been on holi- day and stopped off to visit a couple of days at Alex's brother. Jim and Marg Love. The weekly bridge game resumed last Wednesday evening at St. John's Parish hall with four and a half tables playing the Mitchell movement system. North - south. winners were Jean Gibson and Mary Ferguson. East -west winners were Elsie and Herman Hodgson. Mrs. Agnes Smith. of Whitby. has been visiting here with Mrs. Eva Bariteau and Mrs. Irene Hayter. Pat and Lanny Scrimegour. Ahgela and Jeff. of London, have been holidaying here at a cottage. and also visited the childreir;s-= grandparents. Elgin and_Elda Adams. Pauline and Paul Hen- drick. of Wyoming, visited last Tuesday with the Scrimegours and Adam's. Lawrence and Nellie Obermeyer (former residents of Grand Bend), now of Lethbridge Alberta, have been visiting here with Roy and Mae Morenz and other friends in this area for the past week. The Obermeyers plan to move back to the Bend sometime this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Grigg. of Strathroy, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grigg, Kitchener. and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grigg. of Port Franks. visited Saturday with their mother, Mrs. Rosie Grigg and attended the funeral of their uncle Edward Devine. Mrs. Elgin Adams was hospitalized at Strathroy for a few days. after falling in her home and breaking a small hone in her knee. Alvin and Clara Statton attended a pork barbecue at the home of Gill and Wilda De Blaere at Sarnia where about 75 friends had gathered for camp out. the weekend STRING ARTISTS — Arlene Thompson, 12, and Valerie McDougall, 11, both of the Parkhill area, get some help from Rev. Also in the planning stages is a pre -season cross country workshop with exercises and slides under the direc- tion of Terry Crabe, and a class in community affairs, on politics at the municipal and provincial level.
