were in charge of the
program. Mention was made
that Rev. and Mrs. E.
Morden were celebrating
their wedding anniversary
that day. Mr. Austin Hobbs
had the lucky dessert plate.A
youth quartet called "Sounds
of Summer." from London
favoured with a musical
program and some magic
tricks. Opportunity was
given for all to take part in a
sing along. It was indeed a
very special day to end the
meetings for the summer.
Church News
"Praise" was the sermon
title for the service in
Granton United Church.
Rev. Morden said that
praise is the very soul of
religion and worship, as it
lifts our minds above the
barriers, frustrations and
conflicts of life and affirms
that God, life and the world
is good. It is the very
greatest medicine for the
soul.
An angel chanted to
Zeckariah the prophecy of
John the Baptists birth and
he in turn sang the
Benedictus when John was
born. The shepherds on the
Judean hills sang at the birth
of Jesus.
When the Prodigal son
returned music, praise and
dancing took place.
Jeaus sang with his
desciples before the
Crucifixion. Songs of Praise
broke forth amain after the
Crucifixion and on the day of
Pentecost, as well as on
many other occasions in the
Bible.
