The Candy Makers •
BY IRENE BRAND
Stephen Central
•
On the first of December
all tip elves and Mrs. Claus
gathered in the kitchen to
talk overlhe Christmas' plan.
This plan Was the•one'of all
the Christmas - candy they
were going to make for the
children".
They had planned to get
the ifhgredients .. [[or the
candy -Banes, ebtn6es with,
different flavors and
squares. The ingredients
were to be at their'place by
.December 5. '
Mrs. Claus was to get the
ingredients when she went
shopping •and then they
would be all ready to start to
be finished the night before
Christmas.
Mrs. Claus went shopping
on the fourth of December
and brought back all the
things they needed to make
the goods. When the ` elves
were making the candy -
canes the,kitchen air was
filled with a sweet smell. The
elves then made the cookies
-and following that they made
the squares.
By December the twenty-
second all the treats were
ready _except 100 •candy -
canes, Mrs. Claus -would-
have to' go and get some
more ingredients at the
store. When she got there
there the store was closed
and she couldn't go back on
the 24th because those ilays
the store was closed all. day.
She told the• elves this but
they all just stared because
the first time she went she
didn't get enough ingredients
for the candy -canes, which
she should hare.
The elves didn't know what
- to do about the situation they
were in., Many times they
tried to think of a store that
might have the special
ingredients for`the"Randy-
canes brit they knew that
only one stare did. And that
was the store which was
Ogg
They decided they would
give each child a picture of
all the elves, Santa, Mrs.
Claus and the reindeers each
for the 100 children which
didn't get candy -canes.
On Christmas day when
those 1,00 children looked in
"their sF;ocking they really
were surprised at what they
got instead of candy -canes'
T tit-ucished they had gotten
this a long time ago.
