• Exchange of pleasantries at last council meeting
Despite some heated Fuller. Don MacGregor, Ted
Wright, Derry Boyle and
Harold Patterson all
remarked on how enjoyable
it had been serving with
retiring members Bruce
Shaw and Ken Ottewell, and
the duo replied irlkind.
Shaw and Ottewell receiv-

ed good wishes for their
retirement, but with the
suggestion that their cohorts
hoped their knowledge
would be put to use in
assisting the town in other
capacities.
Both men have been asked
to sit on the planning board.
"It's been a good and plea-
sant .experience in. ,most
cases." •Otteweil said in
reference to -his past two
years on council.
He said it was rewarding
to see things done and added
that hehpd learned to
accept other opinions for
what they are worth and
suggested this was a•
necessity for council
members.
In his final remarks, Shaw
said there were a couple of
concerns council would have
to deal with in the future,
namely a noise bylaw and
the necessary encourage-
ment of industrial growth.
He urged mebbers to do'
their homework, noting this
was essential for the ef-
ficient' operation of
meetings.
He said that when he
entered council eight years
ago he thought it would be
fun, and while he admitted
that was probably an irt--
mature thing to say, he
noted that the work had in-
deed been tun. "It was a
tremendous experience •and
worthwhile," he added.
"It was good, I enjoyed
it," he told membel's,
suggesting that he had begin
able to mature with the job. -
However, he said, "I have
a terrible fear that when I
leave here there are a lot of
things Ittave nQt done".
