Mark anniversary at Centralia Church
By MRS. FRED BOWDEN •
CENTRALIA
• The United Church was
aglow with colour from the
autumn leaves, pots of
mums, fruits and vegetables
arranged to provide an at-
tractive setting for the an:
niversary-'service Sunday
morning.
"Faith" -was the subject
chosen by Mr. Paul Schott
for his sermon to the large-
congregation in attendance.
The steadfast faith that
prompted the early
Christians to build and
maintain a church is needed
in the world today. The
church gains strength from
its members and to succeed
we must allow God to work
through us.
The choir under the
leadership of Douglas Gill
sang two anthems. Elaine
Powe was the soloist. The
offertory music was an
organ and piano duet by Mr.
Gill and Elaine.
She also accompanied Mr.
Gill /or the singing of the
hymns. Ushers were Messrs
Ray- Mills, Bill Essery.
Norman and Don Wilson.
Former resident passes
Amos' Wright a former
Centralia resident passed
.away at the Extendicare
Nursing, Home, London,
Monday. Sympathy is ex -
tended to his son Clare' and
daughter, Mrs. Ralph Neely
in their bereavement.
-You are reminded of the
"Musical in the Unjted
Church Friday evening. A
good attendance is
requested.
