SENIOR CHAMPS — Champions for the senior division of the South Huron Public School
Cross Country meet were recognized at the meet on Thursday. From left to right are third
place finisher Bill Moffat of McCurdy, first place finisher Karl Heather of Usborne and runner-
up Tony Jones of -McCurdy. In the girls division, Starr Jesney of Hensoll Public finished third,

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPS — The top three finishers in each division were recognized at the
South Huron Public School Cross Country meet held Thursday near Vornc. For the in-
termediate boys it was Gerry Grubble of McCurdy in third, Michael Walden of McCurdy in
top spot and Steve Laithwaite of Exeter Public in the runner-up spot. In the girls division
Leanne Dillion finished third, Tracy Verhoeven of Zurich Public in the top spot and JackiCottrell

Notice of Nominations
Nominations will be received at the Clerk's office by the clerk of the Village of Hen-
soll in the period commencing on October 16 and concluding on October 23 at 5:00
' P.M. for the positions of
A. Reeve and 4 councillors for the Village of Hensall
B. 2 Public Utility commissioners for the Hensall Public Utilities Commission.
Each of the members so nominoted if elected are to serve a 2 year term commencing
the 2nd Monday in December 1978. The required nomination forms may be ob-
tained from the Clerk's office and must be completed, filed with and accepted by the
clerk by the above deadline. ,
SCHOOL SUPPORT [IST
The school support list for the Village of Hensall is posted in the Clerk's office. The
last day for filing applications for alteration of school support is October 27, 1978.
PRELIMINARY VOTERS LIST
The preliminary voters list for the Village of Hensall will be posted in the clerk's office
on October 13. The last day for filing applications for correction, deletions or ad-
ditions.to the list.is October 27, 1978.

Home economist addresses Institute
Some of the highlights of
her trip to Europe were
given by Mrs. Rena Caldwell
at the Hensall Women's
Institute meeting held in the
Legion Hall on Wednesday.
Miss Bea McClenaghan,
Home Economist ...then
showed a film on Energy
Conservation" followed by
the members receiving
question and answer sheets
on energy conservation.
Mrs. Myrtle Sherritt thanked
both speakers and presented
Miss McClenaghan with a
gift. The program opened
with a sing -song, and closed
with Mrs. Elizabeth Riley
giving courtesy remarks.
A total of 17 members
answered the roll call,
"Name, a Canadian export
•
and its destination" and
three guests were present.
The president, Mrs. Joyce
Pepper chaired the meeting
and opened with a poem,
"Reasons for life."
Correspondence included
an invitation to Seaford]
Women's Institute the
previous night which
regretfully no-one had been
able to attend; a cheque
from Exeter Fall Fair
committee for the Women's
Institute exhibit; a letter
from the Provincial
Secretary of Social
Developement regtfesting
support and participation of
the Institute to help develop
awareness and enthusiasm
for International Year of the
Child (IYC) and to promote
Area cleric speaks

Unit two of Hensall United
Church held their
thankoffering meeting on
Monday with nine members
present. Mrs. Mona
Alderdice led the meeting
and opened with a poem.
Mrs. Pat Venner conducted
devotional on "How to keep
the Sabbath and opened that
with -another poem and
concluded with a
Thanksgiving prayer.
The speaker was Pastor
Bodenham and taking a text
about David he Spoke on
Human Rights. •
The business was con-
ducted by Mrs. Diane
Gerstenkorn and she read an
;,invitation from Mrs. Helen
Drysdale inviting the group
to her home for the next
meeting with an invitation to
swim that evening. The
Huron -Perth executive will
be meeting at Wingham on
• November 14 at 1.30 p.m.
Diane • closed the meeting
with another poem. After a
contest, hostesses Mrs.
Jeanette Turner and Mrs.
Beatrice Richardson served
lunch.
Hensall United Church
The service at Hensall
United Church on Sunday
was conducted by Rev.
Garnett Husser- who
preached on the subject,
"Open that door," Mrs.
Donna St. John sang a solo,
"How lovely are Thy
dwellings" by Liddle ac-
companied by Mrs.
Marianne McCaffrey on the
organ and Dr. Ralph Topp at
the piano. The children now
leave for Sunday School
during the last verse of the
Children's Hymn.
The new telephone number
for the minister is 262-3245.

moved into town from the
farm; they have- taken up
residence on Richmond

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corbett
moved into the residence -
they recently purchased
from Mr. and Mrs. T.
Shepherd on Richmond
street south.
Mrs. Mabel Shirray was in
Orangeville last week
arranging the funeral of her
aunt, the late Mrs. Ethel
Mae Tremain.
Mr. & Mrs'. William Mickle
and John, Exeter,- spent
Sunday with the former's
mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle.
4-H Clubs
Hensall one, the Cookie
Monsters 4-H Club held their
third meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting started with the
roll call and then all went
into the kitchen and made
cheese chowder. Mrs.
Pepper had brought peanut
butter and apple spread and
Linda Zwann brought
pumpkin, banana and peanut
,butter loaves and all tried
everything. Everybody got a
title page called the Cooking
Monsters: Then the meeting
was adjourned on a motion
from Sandra Nixon and
Janice Campbell.
Hensall 4-H club number
2, held their third -meeting at
the Hensall United Church
on Tuesday. The president
opened by saying the Pledge
and then the members tasted
Potato Cheese Chowder and
Peanut Butter and Carrot
spread. Everybody did
lesson three in the books and
then melted fat was made in
the kitchen before the
meeting was adjourned.
Hensall seniors
talk crafts -
The Hensall Senior
Citizens met in the local
hall on. Tuesday evening
with the President Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor
presiding and opened by
singing "O Canada with
Mrs. Laird Mickle at the
piano.
Following the Roll Call
and minutes the Treasurer
Mrs Bert Horton gave the
hill and financial statement.
The Carpet Bowling on Mon-
day afternoon and Crafts on
Friday was discussed and
members asked to attend. A
letter was read stating a
Musical Revue featuring
"The Scott Family" will he
presented in the Wingham
High School on Saturday.
October 28th at 8 p.m The
entertainment committee.

in Londesboro on Monday,
October 2 and Mrs. Joyce

prepared by Mrs. Hilda
Payne on the afternoon
session. The rally is to be
held in Huron South in 1979 -
place to be chosen at a later
date.
• In other business, the
president thanked
everybody who•had helped in
any way with the Women's
Exhibit at the fairs and
announced that the 64th
Annual Convention for
London Area would be held
at the Banqueter in London
on November 1 and 2 but was
'unable to find a delegate to
attend.
Plans were then finalized for
