fans to meet players
The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
saw action in the Ontario
Hockey Association Con-
tinental senior league on
only one occasion this week
and it was an 8-4 loss to the
Petrolia Squires in Petrolia
Tuesday night.
The Jets will be a _little
more active this coming
week. They will be at the
London Gardens tonight,
,Thursday to meet the
London Kings and Friday
flight they travel to Wood-
stock.
Sunday afternoon, the Jets
will be at home at the
Ilderton arena at 2 p.m. to
meet the Preston Jesters. It
will be a special occasion
with all fans being admitted
free. After the gamy the fans
will have a chance to Meet
the players. Hot dogs and
coffee will be available.
In Petrolia, Tuesday, the
Squires jumped into a 3-0
first period lead and were
never seriously threatened
thereafter.
The Squires actually
upped the lead to 5-0 before
the Jets hit the scoreboard.
The first two L -I goals came
in the last 50 seconds of the
middle frame and both were
on power plays. Ed Robb
registered the first on a
three-way effort with Barry
Baynham and Randy Kraul
and Baynham hit, the mark
on passes froi(n Randy
McIntyre and Dave
Revington.
The third period Jets goals
came from the sticks of
Randy McIntyre and Ed
Parkinson. Jamie Robb and
Randy Kraul provided the
passing help for McIntyre
and Parkinson was suc-.,
cessful on an unassisted -
effort. ,
Former Exeter Hawks
star Bill Fairbairn now with
Petrolia was assessed a ---•
misconduct and a major
misconduct for arguis;g too
strenuously on the second
Lucan-Ilderton goal.
Senior girl Gagers
score four victories
The South Huron Senior
girls basketball team has
been very busy during the
past -week. Tuesday, the girls
travelled to Woodstock to
play Woodstock College
Avenue and they came away
with a thrilling 42-40 win in
overtime.
Heather Riddell led • the
scoring with 14 points and
Karen McAllister and Jill
Tuckey each had 12 points.
Wednesday they travelled
to Strathroy and won again
quite early by a score of 42-
28. Karen McAllister scored
22 points and Heather.
Riddell added 15.

Huron overwhelmed Clinton
by the score of 51-13. Karen
McAllister hit for 14 points
and Heather Riddell and
Julianne MacLean scored 10
points apiece.
Friday and Saturday the
team travelled to Brighton
for a tournament at East
Northumberland Secon-
dary School.
Friday evening South
Huron played East Nor-
thumberland and came
away victorious by a score of
46-40. Helen Muller led the
way scoring 14 points.
Saturday morning, the
heavy schedule finally
caught up to the Panthers as
they dropped a 20-10 decision
to Belleville C.1.
Saturday afternoon the
Panthers roared back and in
a hotly contested game
which was not decided until
the last minute,, they lost- a
close 28-25 decision to Moira
C.I. from Belleville, the
number one rated team in
the -Bay of Quinte region and
undefeated this yeal'.
Karen McAllister once
again led the way with 14
points. All in all it was a very
fine week albeit a busy one

High School girls field
hockey team has turned in
advanced the cause of girls
basketball at South Huron.
Upcoming games include
Stratford Northwestern and
Stratford Central this week,
followed by London's Sir
Frederick Banting and
Seaforth next week.
Lucan bowlers take
big lead over Clinton
Saturday, Lucan Lanes
came away with 18 of a
possible 22 points. In the
afternoon at Lucan they beat
Clinton Crown Sports, seven
points to four. All told there
were five 300 games and one
400 game bowled.
For Lucan, Glen Gagan
had 333, 323 and 1277 total for•
five games. Charlie Glenn
had 339 - 1317 and Bob Smith
had 270 - 1184. For Clinton,
Ken Johnston had 405 - 1306,
Art Burt had 366 - 1318 and
Eric Matzold 331 - 1259.
Saturday night, Lucan
travelled td Stratford and
shut out Mike's II by 11
points to 0. For Lucan, Don
Watt had 268 - 1204, Glen
Gagan 309 - 1179 and Charlie
Glenn 272 - 1161.
Lucan two was not as

and she scored the only goal
in a 1-0 victory over
Strathroy.

South Huron . blanked St.
Marys 3-0.
Karen Ford fired the only
goal as her team beat Strat-
ford Northwestern 1-0. The
scoreless tie was played
