Many people in the area may not remember the late
Harp Rivers, but he hos a special place in the memory of
Fred Darling, because he started. his business career,9r,
Rivers Meat Market 36 yeors ogo•

Four years later, Fred joined partnership with Bill
Chambers and purchased the business from Harp. They
operated Chambers and Darling Meat Morket crud when
!hot partnership was dissolved, Fred storted -Darling's
Meat Market and then took over the IGA franchise.
In 1959, he moved the store to its present site and it
was expanded in size in 1965. Darlings continued to ex-
pand by establishing in Luton in 1962 and Huron Pork in
1969. In 1973, their modern -new abattoir at Hie north end ,
of Exeter was completed and two years later-The-Oorling's

Fred's 36 year% in the grocery and meat business have
porned him o reputation for quality standards, value and
customer acceptance. Equally important is Darling's.
reputation for service - . the helpful clerk, .the .butcher
who cuts it just the way you want, or the friendly fellow

Fred has now been joined m the business by sons Jim,

years of age or older to qualify.
• -Each Saturday evening, at close of business a
winner will be selectedfrom all elegible entries
received. Selected entrants must first correctly
answer a time limited skill testing question In
order to win. The odds of winning are dependent
on the number of entries received. This contest
is subject to all Federal. Provincial and Munici-
pal laws. Prize must be accepted as awarded
