Thursday. Just before,lights
out we had a visit from •a
masked animal friend from
the forest which proved to
be a surpriseJoall.
A game of survival taught
'the children how nature
really works in woods and
how it is not always fair.
Pack up time came too soon
after a lunch of peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches
and chicken noodle soup.
This week is called

Mike Janyu and Matt
Muller collaborated on their
club's single gbal when
Exeter Centennials won 1-0
over Grand Bend in AusabJe
district soccer at Canner's
Field. Sunday.
The winner came at 33
minutesof the second half.
Muller hit the ball into a
perfect placement of . a
corner -kick from the left of
the -Grand Bend net; and
Janyu headed it in for his
first goal as a Centennial. -
Just prior to that, the
Centennials had. -'several
close chances: one .of .them
on a low shot from winger
Brad Clausius_that wedged
in the (.:rand -Rend -keeper's
legs on the goal -line after
getting through his. -hands.
The game, a hard and well -
played affair. began evenly
enough with Exeter going
into a strong attack at the
start.
But Grand Bend held
against the op ning Exeter
drive. Then, both clubs
settled into a game that
could have gone either way
until :xeter slowly began
getting the edge. It was an
edge they worked hard for,
with every .member of the
team Contributing a strong
performance. -
There will be no league
play next Sunday. Instead,
the teams will be -at Lucan
for the second -annual Lucan
six -a -side tournament, which
will be held between noon
and 5 p;m.,
The Centennials resume
the season Sunday. August
13, when they play away at
Forest at 2 p.m.
