Nairn tops
Centennials
Nairn Cardinal's
engineered Exeter Cen-
tennials' first defeat of the
current Ausable district
Soccer season with a 1-0
score at Canner's Field
Sunday.
Domenic Golafra neesc hi '
got .the visitor's goal at
minutes in- a game of even
chances. It snapped
Centennial unbeaten string
at five wins and a tie., prior to
their beginning the last half
o[ the season with Sunday's
game.
Nairn and Exeter opened
the match with 45 minutes of
excellent soccer. In the
second half, however, the
game turned into a rough
and -spotty affair, with -Nairn
leading the way and Exeter
electing to follow. The clubs
stuck to that scrainbly style
of play until about the 70 -
minute mark, when Exeter
began putting together some
patterns again. These
created • several fine
possibilities for- the local
club, but. Exeter couldn't
manage to put the hall away
for a tie. '
The Centennials play away
at Taxandria next Sunday.
