The Huron Country Playhouse Guild held their 3rd annual pre- season dance Saturday night A the Playhouse Engineering study Continued from page IA Reeve Sharen stated that there was little chance of the village affording the $20,000 expected to be left over from the project after the provincial grants were ap- plied. Councillor Robert Simpson expressed the opinion that the people who own the land along the river should be' paying to some extent. Reeve Sharen said he agreed that the property owner should pay a share unless the property owner was willing to give up access to the river bank. He said if the village could install docks along the river bank, and charge a dockage fee to help offset the cost of erosion control, the village might be willing to go ahead. Mr. Martin informed council that new legislation has been passed which says the property owner must contribute in some way to the project. He, also in- formed council that the Ministry of Natural Resources holds control over the entire river area and could transfer this control to the village for the purpose of building docks. "All of those docks along the river are there with no authority at the present time," said Mr. Martin. Following considerable discussion on the possibilities of development of the river and banks once the erosion problem was under control, Reeve Sharen suggested that council put the control of the river and banks, along with any docks or other facilities that may be con- structed, in the hands of a har- bour or river commission. He suggested the funds for work on the river facilities could be raised separately from the municipality and could be paid for strictly- with funds received by the commission from use .of the facilities.
