In Clinton Friday night, the Tigers were clobbered 19-1 by the Clinton Colts and Sunday af- ternoon they absorbed a 11-5 defeat in Arva. The Tigers were in Thorndale last night, Wednesday and will be on their home grounds at the Dashwood athletic field Friday night at 8 p.m. for a return engagement with the Clinton Colts. In Arva, Sunday, the home club scored two runs in the first inning and came back with four more in their second turn at the bat to take a lead which they never relinquished. The Tigers scored their first Rain slows soccer play Rain played havoc with two of Exeter's soccer teams this week. The undefeated squirts were on their way to another victory in Huron Minor Soccer Association play in Clinton when the rains came. The Exeter squad who have yet to have a goal scored against them were leading 2-0 on suc- cessful kicks by Scott Lovie and Greg Peitsch. The game has been rescheduled for July 27. The Exeter Centennial senior club dropped a 5-1 decision to Nairn in Ausable Valley league play Sunday. The entire game was played in a downpour of rain. The Centennials stayed on even terms with Nairn to the end of the first half with each team picking up one goal. Ron Funston was the marksman for Exeter. The Exeter mosquitoes were unable to hang onto a 2-0 half- time lead and lost a 5-3 decision to Goderich. Peter Parsons led the Exeter scoring attack with a pair of goals and Jack Smits hit the mark on a penalty kick. Richard Helm was outstanding in goal for the Exeter youngsters and stopped a penalty kick by the opposition. Royals drop decision in tournament action In their only start this week, the Exeter Royals fastball team dropped a close 3-2 decision to Glanworth in a tournament at Port Stanley. Two regularly scheduled Southwestern Fastball Association games were can- celled because of rain. This week the Royals will be in action on two occasions on their home diamond at Exeter Com- munity Park both against western division clubs. The Crediton club took an early lead and were ahead 8-3 at the erid of the third inning but were forced to hang on in the late in- nings as the Palmerston club came charging back. Crediton scored four times in the first inning. The big hits were triples from the bats of Paul Pooley and Darrell Preszcator and a single delivered by Darryl Pfaff. Three more runs crossed the plate in the third on a double by Paul Pooley and singles by Richard Webb, Darryl Pfaff and Perry Pooley. In the fifth, the final Crediton marker was counted as Perry Pooley singled and scored on twin brother Paul's fourth consecutive extra base hit, this time a double. The pitchers shared mound chores for Crediton.
