league play came to an abrupt
halt this week.
In Clinton Friday night, the
Tigers were clobbered 19-1 by the
Clinton Colts and Sunday af-
ternoon they absorbed a 11-5
defeat in Arva.
The Tigers were in Thorndale
last night, Wednesday and will be
on their home grounds at the
Dashwood athletic field Friday
night at 8 p.m. for a return
engagement with the Clinton
Colts.
In Arva, Sunday, the home club
scored two runs in the first inning
and came back with four more in
their second turn at the bat to
take a lead which they never

Rain slows
soccer play
Rain played havoc with two of
Exeter's soccer teams this week.
The undefeated squirts were on
their way to another victory in
Huron Minor Soccer Association
play in Clinton when the rains
came.
The Exeter squad who have yet
to have a goal scored against
them were leading 2-0 on suc-
cessful kicks by Scott Lovie and
Greg Peitsch. The game has been
rescheduled for July 27.
The Exeter Centennial senior
club dropped a 5-1 decision to
Nairn in Ausable Valley league
play Sunday. The entire game
was played in a downpour of rain.
The Centennials stayed on even
terms with Nairn to the end of the
first half with each team picking
up one goal. Ron Funston was the
marksman for Exeter.
The Exeter mosquitoes were
unable to hang onto a 2-0 half-
time lead and lost a 5-3 decision to
Goderich.
Peter Parsons led the Exeter
scoring attack with a pair of
goals and Jack Smits hit the
mark on a penalty kick. Richard
Helm was outstanding in goal for
the Exeter youngsters and
stopped a penalty kick by the
opposition.
